I would say it's "ok". Mostly plastic. The side of it will compress by the squeeze of fingers and slow down the spool but it doesn't feel strong and well made to me. Has a cheap plastic feel. I don't see the value it it versus a standard spool where you have a thumb and index finger inside the axel to slow it down. Seem just a new marketing gizmo.
