From the Manufacturer

ScaleBlaster is an innovative, computerized water conditioning system that solves hard water problems without the need of chemicals or salt. The product requires no maintenance and is simple to install, with no plumbing required. ScaleBlaster removes and prevents lime-scale deposits in household pipes. It will protect and prolong the life of water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines. Lime-scale deposits on shower heads, sinks and faucets will easily wipe off or disappear. Soap lathers up more, skin feels smoother and hair becomes more manageable. Enjoy brighter, whiter and longer lasting clothes, towels and sheets. Water softeners require salt, waste a lot of water while discharging chlorides into the environment. They require ongoing costly maintenance. For people on salt restricted diets, ScaleBlaster is a healthy alternative. ScaleBlaster is also ideal for tankless water heaters. First appearing in 1995, ScaleBlaster is successful worldwide in many applications.

The unit was competitively priced, good instructions, easy to follow and seemed to work as expected. However, manufacturers would not guarantee the product if purchased from Amazon. They said too many units had been stolen or refurbished and sold as new. In fact, research revealed that my unit was originally sold to H Depot. The seller was happy to refund my purchase price, however, it cost $20 to mail it back and I paid $30 more to buy one at HD.Kind of wish I kept the unit purchased from Amazon and taken my chances on the warranty. The unit appears to be doing it’s job and water tastes better. May get rid of water softener

I attempted to register this scaleblaster at the manufacturer's website. I received a phonecall from the manufacturer telling me that serial number on the scaleblaster did not exist. The agent also told me that this is happening with a lot of online sellers. This i s important to know because if you have a problem with your scaleblaster there is no warranty for products with false serial numbers.

Well, folks. I have this thing running since the first week of January of 2019. Install was easy though you must be patient. I installed it on the basement ceiling so my hand was tiring and my neck was hurt. Be prepared to have some type to help hold the wiring in place while you take a break. I used painter tape. It has been a little over two months, too early to really give a good review. As far as my showers, sinks on the 2nd floor, I see no changes in pressure, however, my kitchen sink which is closet to the Scale Blaster in the basement has much less white spot on or around the sink after drying. I see no white spot on the pull-out faucet. My electric kettle usually had a ring of hard calcium deposit on the edge of the mouth and I have to clean it once a month but now, the ring is still there but much thinner, softer and I can wipe it down with a paper towel. I will come back next year to update this review to see if my showers and sinks on the 2nd floor improve or not. For now, I am giving it 5 stars.

I bought a 35 year old house and nothing had been done in all that time to stop the build up of deposits in the pipes. At first I was skeptical, but I noticed the other day that I’m getting more suds in the shower and in the laundry now, and I bought a new coffee maker and there’re no deposits in there either.Update June 22, 2019 I bought this August 2018 so it hasn’t even been a year, and I thought it’d take much, much longer until I saw any real results—I was wrong! Besides getting more suds in the shower, and laundry my hair is smoother. Until lately I’ve had to use bar soap in order to get the right amount of lather—no more. I’ve been very happily surprised by the lather I get from my liquid soap.Last year I had to get a new water heater and I was concerned about how long it’d last because of the hard water, but I’ve had the water tested and so far so good! Also, the shower is much easier to clean now because there are a minimum of deposits on the walls. I had to have a plumber install this and it was expensive, but well worth it!Update, July 2019–it’s been nearly a year and things keep getting better, so don’t listen to the reviews who and said it does nothing because maybe they haven’t waited long enough. I’m getting hot water sooner now which means the deposits are going away. The hot water tank is right across the hall from the bathroom, but I still used to have to wait and wait. I don’t anymore. It’s not immediate, but it’s only a few minutes now and it used to take much longer. I just can’t say enough good things about this—I’m so pleased with this and hope it lasts a long time.

Can't say it really does anything. Live in Downtown Calgary, we have hard water, got this in hopes of saving on water softener and it looked very promising. Installed it perfectly on PEX pipe exactly like shown in the instructional youtubes. Had this installed over a year now and I can't say that we see any improvements. Couldn't be bothered to uninstall it but would't spend the buck on it again.

I was looking for a solution to prevent the rapid buildup of calcium deposits that would appear on my chrome bathroom and kitchen fixtures as well as my coffee maker and tea kettle. My initial research of the Scale-Blaster yielded mixed reviews. I found that for some people it worked just fine, for others, not so much. Initially, I decided to pass on a purchase until I happened to recently meet someone who had installed one with very satisfactory results. He confirmed the factory claims, i.e., the SB-75 is a water conditioner, not a water softener. Which means that it will largely prevent the build up of deposits and help to remove existing build ups. Within days of installing my SB-75, I noticed a dramatic reduction in mineral deposits. Whatever deposits that appeared could easily be wiped away without the need for any chemical cleansers. I have also noticed that tea cups washed in my dishwasher are free from the brown residue that was present previous to the SB-75. I have not noticed any appreciable change in the amount of soaps and detergents. My advice to anyone considering a purchase is to acquaint themselself with the differences between the SB-75 and a water softener. Also have the hardness of your water tested to ensure it is below the ppms specified by the manufacturer (I believe it's in the neighbourhood of 320 ppm -- mine tested at just below that value.)

I was skeptical that this would actually work like it claimed but because it was "backed" by Amazons return policy I decided to give it a try. To my surprise it works extremely well. I have it on my cold water supply before it goes through my filters and into my hot water tank and we have noticed a huge decrease in the minerals that stick to the glass on the shower door and also noticed the water feels different. I know this sounds crazy but it feels as though it removes soap better from my skin in the shower and also the laundry seems to smell fresher. I would highly recommend this. I should note that it's very very important to follow the directions accurately. It also helps to watch the videos on Youtube from the Manufacturer. These were beneficial in understanding how this works and how to best install it for maximum performance. I'm so glad I don't need to waste tons of money on salt and a softener to soften my high mineral water.

This product does not do what the manufacturer advertises. I had it installed by my plumber to be sure it was properly done and waited more than the 90days advised for the water to soften but nothing happened except my dishes, glasses and even my dishwasher were covered with a white gritty film. I would give it zero stars.

I reside in an area that has horribly bad hard water. The stuff that clogs shower heads, stains anything it dries on, etc. We talked about adding a water softener but space is limited and the cost is high which is why this looked so attractive. Skeptical at first, heck yeah, totally. With that being said, it was a small investment to give it a try. Wow was I surprised. About a week after installation there was a noticeable difference in the water. Showers were good, drains drained better, dishes washed in the dishwasher were cleaner than before, without having a shine booster added. I'm shocked at the difference and amazed this isn't more popular. Easy install, well except wrapping the pipe. That's a pain if you have a pipe that is a little tucked away. I would say that's most of us on a slab. It was the location and lack of space that made wrapping the pipe difficult otherwise, I wouldn't think it would be that bad. If you have hard water, buy this, you won't regret it.
