I live in a small apartment, and don't generally need anything too fancy, but this reminded me of my high school and college years, when I took various drafting classes. It's great for various DIY projects, and the fact that the arm folds in/out makes it useful, yet compact.I don't foresee using most of the measurements in the near future, but just having it opens up the possibilities.

Love the extension on this square. It is solid aluminum, has a nice weight to it and has pretty much all of the features you would seek in a square. I used this square to mark out cuts for 1" sheeting and it worked great! I am really pleased with it - fully recommend!

I've had the same Swanson Speed Square for almost 40 years. It is a great product, and costs very little. It's the seven inch version. I've seen other people that have the 12 in version, but that one won't fit in your bags. The Saker square seems to be a way to get the best of both words.98 to 99 percent of the time I have used my speed square, it has been to make 90 degree lines on lumber. The saker square will allow me to make a line all the way across a 2x10 or 2x12.The flip out extension lines up perfectly with the rest of the square. I am impressed by the quality of machining in this product. In terms of accuracy, it is certainly suitable for framing. The flip out section locks firmly into place with the thumb screw. Out of the box, there is zero play. Not that I am getting older, I do more woodworking the carpentry. The edges on this square are not rounded like my old Swanson square. I think this makes layout a tad more accurate (Important for wood working). If this thing has negatives, they might appear down the line. It has a moving part. That means someday the hinge may fail or develop some play. Out of the box, the hinge is amazingly stable - no play whatsoever. The other potential negative is the thumbscrew that holds the extension in the extended position. It kinda sticks out a bit. I imagine that on a job-site, it could hang up on something. It could also easily be lost if left un-tightened.

I install floors for a living so squares like this is about a much for laminate, LVP, and hardwood. It's small enough to easily fit in a toolbox. Unfortunately they often aren't big enough for a lot of material. Such as the LVP material in the pic of a job I just did last week. So the ruler is nice. My other square doesn't have that. I have a larger square but it doesn't fit in a toolbox. So this is the best of both worlds. The construction is robust. It doesn't feel like something that I'll accidentally bend it up or snap it. My only complaint is I wish the tightening screw that holds the ruler in place was a screw that had something to keep it from backing out all the way. I can see myself loosing that one day. Still that's a small complaint. I'm quite happy with this.

I ordered the 2 Saker Folding Speed Square 12 inch,T Square Triangle Ruler Measuring Layout Tool,Christmas Gift,Multi-Purpose Carpenter Square,Rafter Square Woodworking Tool for Drawing Contour Lines and Angles.I'm a home handy man and hobbiest and will be using this tool in those activities. I can't speak to how this tool would work in a professional environment. This tool is a little heavy to be aluminum so I suspect it is some sort of alloy. It has a nice dirty feel without feeling heavy. The black finish isn't extremely well done but it is adequate. The white marks for the ruling. Some gauges are clear, sharp, and easy to read. The copper colored ruler that serves as an extension 41 side as a tight fit but not overly tight. It won't be wobbling around even if you don't use the set screw. The ruled markings on the black triangle have not just at the half inch and full inch on the left hand side and at the quarter inch marks on the right hand side from 1/2" to 4 3/4". On the copper color foldout extension, the notches are at the quarter inch on the right hand side and for the 1/2 inch marks and full inch marks they are in holes for the entire length of the extension. The copper colored extension when straightened out perfectly aligns with the edge of the black triangle to create a smooth edge twelve inch ruler. The folded out extension makes it easy to store. They're triangle in your toolbox.I have randomly checked a couple of the angles against some triangles that I have and the angles are spot on.Overall, 4 stars from me for now. I'll try to update after I've used it for a short while.
