My wife replaced my lost pelvic saw this Christmas. This thing is the cats meow when field dressing Whitetail. Thanks to my wife. I now have a brand new saw. Durable, compact, and easy to use.

Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but it seems of good quality and iam sure it will work fine. But until I try it out first it gets a four.

I had one of these years ago and it was the best. I lost it or loaned it out and needed to replace it. I tried several other flimsy brands and wasn't happy. Finally found this one again on Amazon and ordered it. Used this deer season and it worked great. Doesn't bend, easy to hold. It's a great design.

This makes short work of splitting the pelvis on a deer. Saw both sides of the spine.

Best field dressing saw I ever used! Tough and doesn’t bend like all the Cheepos you find in your local stores. Quick sawing motion makes fast work on rib cage. I don’t break open pelvic bone but I’m sure it’ll be just as good there as well.revised: buddy used it on his buck this fall and it worked excellent as I thought it would. Don’t waste your money on any other!

The Sagen #1 is the best field saw that I have found for cutting pelvis bones on antelope, deer and elk. It just plain works. I've bought one of these for each of my four boys. It works fine for breast plate on antelope and deer but it will wear you out if you use on an elk. The saw is lightweight and compact. Teeth are sized similar to a bone saw. Blade is flexible but won't permanently bend and go out of shape. Teeth stay sharp. I have not tried the Sagen #2 but suspect that it would be better for elk breast plates. But it is a slightly larger saw. You can't go wrong with this saw.

I gave my original Sagen saw to my brother several years ago, figuring I'd pick another one up. I bought my original one for about 7 bucks and when I tried to buy again, they were up to over 20. I bought a different brand for about 12 bucks and used it for several years, but the teeth were just too deep and too aggressive. When you'd cut on the upstroke, half the time, you'd end up hanging up and lifting the pelvis of the deer up off the ground - even on the big 'uns. With the Sagen saw, the teeth are shallower and the stroke is shorter. It glides smoothly through the pelvic bone and sternum. May take more strokes, but the strokes are controlled, smooth and take less effort. Wish the danged things weren't so expensive, though.
