In my opinion, this unit is very overpriced, but it works well and no wires to run

This traditional doorbell extender is working great for us so far. Easy install. In addition to the one "chime" included, I ordered another chime and paired that to the existing system, so I could have a chime downstairs in our kitchen and one upstairs in our hallway. It's all working as expected. It was super-easy to pair the chimes with the extender component that sends the signal to the chimes to make some noise when the outside doorbell button is pressed. I paired two chimes, they both paired the same way, they both work, it was really straight-forward. The one small documentation nag is that when pairing the documentation says to press the "pair" button on the chime, but on my chimes there is only a "program" button, so I pressed the "program" button, everything worked first try. The only caution I'd like to share is that when you are installing the extender into the existing wired doorbell, be gentle with the wires (especially old, but new wires too). In my case the original doorbell wires at my house have been in place for nearly 40 years, so I was gentle when connecting the new leads (front, trans, back) to the existing doorbell, gently folding wires back to fit within the doorbell cover, nothing broke, it's all working as expected so far, and it looks great too.

This is exactly what I needed. Made a basement apartment and our original doorbell was in what is now a “common” entrance. So, this was perfect. Hooked it up to the original wires, actually unhooked the original doorbell and now have labeled one for the main floor and one for the apartment. The main floor gets the two tone and the apartment gets the so called “back door “ single tone.

Works well with our old door bell. No more missing deliveries when we are in the basement or upstairs, installation was easy, there are even videos online

Leaves older existing doorbell (front and rear) system intact: no outside wiring or extra door buttons needed. Wireless receiver plugs int household power, easily relocatable, no batteries to go dead or leak. If there is an all-metal enclosure for the existing inside door chime box, mounting inside it would likely limit the wireless link operation. Followed included instructions: it worked properly with 1 or 2 chimes (rear and front doors respectively).

I do not like it because it does not work. Very disapointed.

We like our old door bell. It has a classic two-tone sound made by plungers actually striking two separate tone bars, but it’s not loud enough for us to hear upstairs at the far end of the house. This product offers a great solution. I read other reviews complaining about lack of range or poor instructions, and I found neither to be true. The instructions were in perfect English with good diagrams, and the wires themselves were clearly labeled. I followed the instructions carefully, and everything worked as described. The best part is that the electronic two-tone chime on the receiver sounds even better than our old classic analog, but it’s not so different as to seem weird. The volume on low is pretty loud, but right to our tastes. Also, the range is quite good. The receiver is at least 75' away and upstairs, and it paired immediately. It was a little bit unclear as to when the pairing process was complete (you have to press the pairing button again, once the receiver has paired with your door bell), but that resolved itself as soon as the chime on the receiver sounded. Also, the receiver is designed such that it doesn’t block the top outlet in our upstairs hall, where we have a night light. We don’t have a back-door button, but, if we did, that chime would only make one tone, so that you could tell whether someone was at the back or front door. You just have to wire the "back" (brown) wire to the back terminal on the original transformer. Otherwise, you tape it off and bundle it inside the transformer box. Great product!

I am giving 4 stars because the product worked, though I ordered with much less confidence, as to whether it will work with my existing Nutone wired doorbell. Wiring instructions were straight forward, however pairing step was not described very well. I rolled up my sleeves to get this set up in no time and have it working. As quick as my installation was, no sound heard when the doorbell was pushed. I pressed the program button and heard the beep and assumed it is paired. No luck after several attempts. I decided maybe it is not compatible and got the packing ready to be returned the next day.I decided to read the reviews to see if I am missing any step. Luckily one of our reviewers mentioned about the pairing and thought of giving it one last try. I inserted into a wall socket near to my existing doorbell and requested my wife to push the doorbell while I kept the program button pressed. After four attempts, it seemed to have paired and gave a long ding tone. I hated the fact that the ring tone is going to be just a "ding". Now, I moved the extender to a different place of my house, where I originally wanted it to be, it's about 20 feet away with four drywalls in-between. Pressed the doorbell again, VIOLA, it worked and the ring tone was different too and is acoustic! It is no longer just a "ding". My wife liked it! which means the project is a success!Points to Note:1) The installation instruction could have been more clear about pairing2) The Model Number mentioned is not what was delivered. Both the extender and the receiver had different numbers than what is on the box. One other reviewer clearly mentioned this with pictures. Please refer to that3) Product description mentioned 10 different sounds and 2 different tones at a couple of places, which is conflicting. Why don't they just describe what the product was designed for, without much exaggeration?4) It is definitely expensive. I would have definitely bought Carlon Extend-A-Chime if it would have been available

This is my sister's account. Even though it had some recent negative comments, I recommended this unit since it had features that were useful; easy installation and the receiver unit plugged into an outlet. After hooking up the transmitter unit to the wired doorbell, the receiver was plugged into a nearby outlet and sync'd. It seemed to work OK. The receiver was plugged into the outlet on a porch where it was needed. Again it was sync'd and appeared to do so successfully. The receiver seemed to work a couple of times then was unreliable in ringing when the doorbell was used. The receiver and transmitter were separated by several walls and kitchen cabinets.WHAT WORKED: The receiver was moved to an outlet where it had fewer walls separating it from the transmitter. It sync'd easily and worked reliably. The receiver was then moved to the outlet where it was needed, WITHOUT SYNCING again, and it worked reliably. We tested it several times over the next few days and are satisfied with the result. The key seemed to be getting the receiver and transmitter sync'd.
