Just don't put batteries in it and it will look real. I have real cameras guarding doors and windows and building and they don't have red blinking lights. I put it up in the back where I have had a neighbor trespassing and doing vandalism and he is afraid to get in camera view so hopefully he will not test it out to see. But he gets to the blind spots so I have to put the fake up to try to keep the trouble maker out of my yard and doing mischief and keeping us awake all night. He has to climb the fence to even get into the back yard. It's locked and posted but it's getting out of hand and police don't do anything unless he is on camera and even though we have seen him and know exactly who it is they don't do anything unless he is caught on camera. Hopefully this will help.

If you leave out the battery, they look like the real thing. The real camera's don't have a flashing red light!!!! That is a dead givaway that camera is fake!!! I returned these only because I had a real CCTV system installed in my home. I would suggest you buy these to scare off porch pirates. It is cheap insurance. These might fool those thugs. Worth the money!!!

J'en avais marre des co-propriétaires qui mettaient n'importe quoi dans le local poubelle. Après de nombreuses tentatives d'affiches sur la porte pour rappeler les règles, j'ai finalement installé cette fausse caméra avec une affiche adaptée proposée par le syndic pour porter l'attention sur la caméra. Depuis, j'observe beaucoup moins d'incivilités.Comme quoi, elle doit être suffisamment crédible. Je ne dis pas que ça fonctionnerait avec des cambrioleurs...

Just put mine in and they look awesomely real! Don't use the plastic tube-anchors they come with as they're junk (break easy, fall thru the hole, or spin in place during screwing). Get your own Ribbed or Conical Plastic Anchors!I left out the batteries during operation. I think the led light is TOO bright and makes it look obviously fake. I've never seen such a blinking light on a real security camera. Save the batteries and install WITHOUT them. Looks wonderful!And make sure to install them where you would put a Real camera. Good placement can make them appear real as well.

These look great when up, and are easy to install. While I am not sure the red flashing LED is really needed, unless you want to get out your ladder and change the batteries (alkaline) every 2-3 weeks you should AVOID this product. Those LED's do not have a daylight sensor so they run 24/7/365 and drain even alkaline batteries in a couple weeks. How is this possible? A good low power LED and good circuit design should last 6-9 months. Very poor circuit design. Rated: AVOID unless you do not care about the red flashing LED. Let me add one positive comment ... I have never seen ups deliver my packages so neatly as they do on my front porch after installing this fake decoy. Haha

These are very well made and look 100% authentic if you install them correctly and do not install batteries in the unit. As some other posters have stated, those who know about security and CCTV, know that only FAKE cameras have flashing LED's. Proper placement and solid installation is essential as well in effectively using this product as a security deterrent. With that said, these little beauties are wonderful. Easy to install, well made and great looking. I will be ordering more.

I'll comment on the most controversial feature at the end. On opening I was surprised at how realistic this looked, looks well made like a real camera and the dome isn't just dark plastic but has a little fake camera in it. Basically I was just very impressed how realistic for the price.Given it is a fake camera that cost $8 I didn't feel like putting holes in my house to mount this with screws. I mounted this using industrial strength Velcro and it worked quite well, had to press a little to not leave an open space between the "camera" and the underside of the porch where it was mounted. I picked this spot because in real life it would be very easy to have a real camera wire running there.I also bought a second camera since this one was so well made.I do have REAL security cameras, SIX of them around my house. Most are hidden as best can be but one can be seen from outside, as a deterrent and one in the garage also in plain sight, again telling anyone who gets in "Hi I see you".Now for the big issue, my real cameras have red lights!!! The lights can be turned on or off (the cameras are Logitechs, 3 have been replaced free by Locitech, which has since quit making them which tell you about their quality). The real cameras that are deterrents have the light on, e.g. the garage one. As for these I'll just leave the batteries out and use without the lights.
