Recommended by name, they work awesome for removing milscale from steel.They're consumables, they don't last indefinitely.Got 2 6' sticks of 1" angle cleaned up with a single disc in a matter of minutes.

Bought the 5 pack for a rotisserie project and they last! If you're careful on hard edges these disc's make quick work of mill scale, light rust and paint. Definitely recommend buying them to save your flap disc's from getting gummed up. Much quicker than a wire wheel and a better finish when done. Would definitely buy again 👍

These are great for stripping paint and rust off old garden tools! The spongey material is more forgiving on bumps and sharp protrusions than a grinding disc would be, allowing for more use cases! The spongey material is also more "conforming" to curved surfaces…. Don't get me wrong, this is still constructed from strong and stiff material and it’s very difficult to deform it by squeezing the material in your fingers. I believe the stiffness is there so that the stripping wheel can withstand prolonged grinding - this is not your average loofa sponge!After removing rust and paint on an old garden hoe and shovel, there is no noticeable wear on the stripping wheel which leads me to believe that these will last for a long time.In addition, the wheel is properly balanced, and there was no noticeable vibration when running my angle grinder on all its speed settings.So far, this is my most useful 4 ½” grinder attachment for tool/automotive cleanup and restoration. Great quality from SATC - I would definitely buy again!

I had 3 layers of paint on my railings and this took it off with such ease! Obviously they wear down but in a timely manner, nothing excessively fast. I will buy more if I need more, but I might have enough with just these 5.

These sanding discs were a revelation when I tackled the daunting job of stripping 80 years and 10 layers worth of paint from an old door. They outperformed traditional methods, saving me hours. These discs are a fantastic value for the money and proved to be impressively durable for my project. While they don't last indefinitely, they exceeded my expectations. I would not attempt to use them on soft woods, veneer, or delicate items, as they can cause damage and great care still need to be taken on hard woods. Sanding will be required after, regardless, so its best to start with a test piece first, to ensure you're comfortable using them for wood. This is my first time using a stripping disk. I am 100% impressed. These quickly powered through the yellow John Deere factory paint on my old snow plow. The picture shows a 42" wide blade. I was able to remove all the paint and most of the rust in just a few minutes.I have a Wen 4-1/2" grinder, and I had to remove the guard to make these fit. Not a big deal because they do not throw sparks.I will also say that they do wear down very fast, in my opinion. I was expected them to wear quicker than a normal grinding wheel. Overall, I'd definitely recommend these for quick and easy paint or rust removal.

I've used theses to remove paint from steel for years. They work great but wear out fast.Once you get used to using them you can get them to last a little longer by adjusting pressure accordingly instead of going at it like crazy.The will remove a LOT of paint if you push them but they'll wear out in minutes, heck they even take chrome clean off an old bumper.I recommend these but understand what you're buying. They are made to be disposable not like a metal cutting wheel or flap-wheel that lasts for weeks, months or even years.I go through at least 3 of theses on a small project.Once they're worn half way down the can't strip paint any more but the worn out disc can be used to polish steel surfaces to some degree. waste not want not, it does the trick in a pinch, worth holding on to.
