This pack was cheap enough, but each pad doesn’t last very long and disintegrates after just a few minutes of use. Good for a disposable product but….

These polishing pdas/discs are wonderful. I use them for polishing 316 stainless steel, and also for clearing rust and filth from cast iron machine surfaces. I have read some negative reviews about the durability of these abrasives. Certainly, everyone’s experiences and angle grinder techniques are different, however, I have found the biggest factor in increasing the durability and longevity of these discs is lowering run speed. This important tip will be lost on you if you cannot vary the speed of your angle grinder. Single-speed angle grinders simply run too fast (10,000 RPM+-?) this loads the abrasive surface prematurely, but most importantly, also destroys the abrasive disc if an abrupt corner or even a somewhat dull edge is encountered. A high run speed will tear the abrasive pad apart instantly if catching an edge.. Simply lower the grinder speed to about 3000 RPM and you will love the results. This is a great labor saving product.

I have been using these to polish and remove debris on some old concrete, and my initial thoughts were that they looked distinctly Chinese and dangerous. After using a full pack though, they are my preferred wheels for this purpose. They last long, I'll get a good 30 minutes of continuous use out of them, and they are cheap. There's also really nothing quite like them on the shelves of the box stores, with alternating sandpaper and 3m-like abrasive pad. They are incredibly good at removing surface contamination and are far more gentle than a normal flap disc and far faster than a wire wheel. They also don't clog like a flap disc, and don't sling needles like a wire wheel l.All in all, I'm impressed. I'll be buying tons more.

disintegrated within seconds just trying to prep smooth aluminum surface for paint. Made a mess everywhere. Stick to 3M branded ones.

They do what you want - they work great for smoothing scratches out of steel and shining up workpieces after using a grinding wheel or a flap disc, and they barely take off material or create heat. So I can't really complain there. That said, they haven't lasted very long, so if you use polishing wheels often (I do not) it might be worth getting some of the pricier options

Good and fast first step for polishing engine casings and front struts. They do wear away, but 3 should do most of an engine. Don't even think about doing it by hand with maroon Scotch Brite and WD40. I used them dry and they quickly removed the corroded clearcoat and minor scratches. They won't get into all the nooks and crannies, but that's what elbow grease is for. They do seem to work better with WD40 for some reason. Make sure to remove all oil and such before clear coating the engine parts.
