Just buy it. Bought for a specific bumper application and have used it dozens of times in the past few months for anything plastic.

I liked they are heavy and seem quality...I havent welded anything yet, but they both heated up nicely...comes with lots of staples and even sandpaper and plastic to melt, and attachment to iron to melt plastic rods... two attachments for iron is nice, they are brass and screw on.The wire staples I found you need to shove them in a few mms to seat and not try to just let them hang on the gun rods... just shove the staples in and no need to bend or complain they fall out cuz you arent shoving them in far enough.I bought a kit with hundreds more staples, two different thicknesses of wire, nice assortment in and outer corners and several wiggles...will give five stars if it lasts after using it to repair bumper and plastics... i used to use a soldering gun to do same thing, you can make your own staples and use a soldering gun if tip removed but this kit makes it easy and staples and several diff plastic rods included... glad I picked this set, way too many to choose from, but sure wish it came with a case, there is just a cardboard box, which is kind of sad you guys... include a case please.

Great plastic repair kit, make sure you watch some Youtube videos before using to get tips on using it.Take your time and just remember that too much heat will damage the plastic you are fixing, I used a spray bottle with water and used it on each staple after it was installed. I highly recommend this kit, it's much more costly to buy new ATV fenders then just repair them with the hot staples and plastic rods!

Cannot comment as to long-term reliability. Just recieved the unit & put it to work immediately. No previous experience with a "plastic welder". That said, the learning curve wasn't steep at all. The repair requirement was bonding two dissimilar plastics (polyetheline & rigid polystyrene) on a thirty-six year old Cuisinart food processor. The repair was for a several-times previous repair with glue to a polyetheline cam on the back of the lid that depresses a shaft down to a small micro-switch, activating the motor. I've never been able to get any form of glue to hold, long-term. SuperGlue, Epoxy, JB-Weld .. tried them all. The pressure required to twist the lid, & slide the cam over the switch-pole takes a fair bit of torque & the glue just couldn't hold it in place. After bonding the cam to the lid with SuperGlue (to hold it in place), I used two heat-staples .. one on the side and one on top. The "gun" heated the staples to the point of melting into the dissimilar plastics within four seconds. On one of the staples, I didn't embed quite deeply enough so I simply reinserted the posts back into the gun & added a bit more pressure while heating. Likely sufficient, nevertheless I used the wand iron to melt and "marry" the two plastic surface joints together and then finished off by melting a bit of the supplied plastic in the kit over the top of the bond to ensure the staple posts were fully covered and the work surface clean and level. I tried the lid on the Cuisinart several times (on and off) and the repair is as-strong as the day we got it long, long ago. Not quite as pretty but much more durable. And so folks know, that sinfle point of failure that all really expensive "gizmos" have, would have caused us to replace the Cuisinart because the replacement assembly was almost as expensive as a new one. Our 14-cup model would have cost $250, new. I've been a "fixer" around the house for a long time. And we have save thousands $$$ by repairing. For the repeated headaches of fixing our "gizmo" now ended, I conclude the repair just about paid for the unit the first time. A few things to note: I don't care if it doesn't come with a case. That's what Harbor Freight is for. I researched a bunch of 'welders' on Amazon and a large number of them had a tendency to overheat or take way too long "to" heat. Failure to perform to minimum standards gets a "no" on those tools. Thus far, I'm very impressed. This tool is NOT an industrial quality tool. It is an occasional use tool and if used with that in mind and not abused, it should last quite some time. I particularly appreciate the "gun" being paired with a "wand" as I think good repairs will need both. Oh ---- one last thing, your wand will need some type of stand as it gets hot, really hot. In my single-use of it, I put it into a small salsa jar laying down as a holder. Effective, but a true soldering wand holder of some kind is needed, long term. For the money and a little TLC, this is a very decent value and should not be overlooked.
Fit perfect, good price!

I have an old gas tank that is discontinued and no longer available. It had a crack and was leaking fuel bad! With this kit I was able to hold the crack together with the provided metal straps. Afterwords I used the correct plastic rod and melted it into the crack sealing it up. No more leaks!

I had a rolling trash can that some squirrel or Raccoon had chewed a hole through. It seemed to me there had to be something that could mend that. I did some research and ended up with this product! Watched some YouTube videos and my"Roly-Poly" is good as new! Maybe better because the fix has metal mesh webbing in it. So easy to use! Great to have around for plastic fixes!!

I do a lot of fixing of things around the house. Plastic is a pain to try and repair. Using plastic glues or expoxies usually doesn't hold or leaves a weak repair that will break again.I looked at a number of units and reviews and chose this one. It comes with two types of tools, one for staples and one to melt plastic sticks and smooth things over. I've used both to repair a few things that were broken and they work well.A few things to consider, watch some videos. The staple ends will snap off easily IF the staple is at the right depth. The weakened point is very near the end. If it's not too deep it will snap off easily, if it's too deep you will need pliers to cut it. On that point note this set doesn't come with pliers. Not a problem for me as I have good tools already. So other sets include a pair of pliers but from the reviews they seem to all be of poor quality. Something to consider. Also it doesn't have a case, it comes in a box. Didn't bother me I just put it in a slightly bigger box so I can just put it in and not have to fiddle around to get it back in the box it came with.So I'm happy with the performance and quality. One last thing. Use this in a well ventilated area ie. outside. I even have a fan blowing the fumes away when I'm working on something.Burning plastic doesn't just smell bad it's extremely TOXIC don't compromise your health.

This is probably one of the best and most useful purchases this year. I purchased it to fix a few things around the house. I know I can use it for fixing a car bumper, but I have found so many other uses for this kit. It comes with everything you could possibly need for plastic welding. It does an excellent seamless job. It heats up quick and to a nice temp to make work easy and quick. It's of excellent quality considering the price of the kit. It comes in a very nice and durable case to keep everything neatly organized.I'm rarely satisfied to the extent that I am with this purchase.
