I have returned product because it contains silica which causes cancer. It is a banned product in California and says so on the packet. This should be mentioned on the product description for consumer information.

I did some patching of the stucco on my house and didn’t like that it dried very smooth instead of textured like the old stucco. I tried this product hoping that after I repainted the area, the texture would match better. And it did! One caution though: Because I was using it in stucco and not on a smooth wall, I needed to use much more than the recommended amount. But it was well worth it, especially since it did not alter the color of the paint at all.

I like this product and found that applying with a smaller roller made the application less messy.

This is easy to use but just know that it doesn't look like regular texture on the wall it looks like you added sand to the paint.

I've used this product many times over the last 20 years to make the uneven, cracked ceilings of an old house look awesome! It gives a good look to a less than perfect surface, but isn't as "70's" as popcorn ceilings. It looks quite elegant to me. It's messy, but forgiving...a bit of an art form to apply, but all you need is a fairly deep pile roller. I wish I could find the Coarse version, but it seems to be discontinued.I've also used it with exterior latex to repair peeling paint on stucco. Looks great so far! Disclaimer, I haven't tried the Medium as yet, but I bought it to have on hand for my next requirement. Don't know where else to find it!

I had dried wallpaper glue in a bathroom that even sanding wouldn't remove so I bought this product and repainted with it. Looks great. Easy, inexpensive fix.

We didn’t know if it would work or not and we were stumped as to how to re-texture our pillars that have taken a beating over the past few years. We took a shot and mixed this with exterior satin paint and it worked like a charm! We were so happy! I love this stuff and I will continue to use it inside and out. I haven’t used it inside yet because we use the spray stuff but I will use it indoors one day. It’s awesome! And a little goes a long long way!

bought this to do a small touch up due to water leak. This product worked great and is not too messy however place something on the floor for paint droplets. I should have ordered the course however as they the medium grit was not course enough so my husband had to apply 3 layers to get as close as possible to the texture of the rest of the ceiling

Very gravelly texture but covered the area I applied it to well. Easy to mix, like pancake batter.

Worked better than expected. A nice even texture can be had by trying not to roll over an already painted spot and a big, soggy paintbrush for spots you missed. Be prepared to use a lot more paint than you think you need. I would suggest double what you would normally use with just paint... And be prepared for a mess if painting a ceiling!! Double up drop cloths and wear clothing you never expect to wear again.

I have been rehabbing old houses for 35 years. Older houses tend to have walls that are really ugly. Decades of picture hanging, bad paint jobs, even worse attempts at knock down mud, cracking plaster, smeared hole filler everywhere....well, the walls end up looking positively diseased. House acne or something. I've tried just about everything from ripping out the old walls and installing new sheetrock (expensive), to sanding the surface (time consuming), to priming all the walls then renting a compressor and hopper and spraying orange peel over everything (labor intensive + expensive). Most recently, having tired of other methods, I've been using 'orange peel in a spray can'. Wow, talk about expensive! And the last 1/3 of the can, which you don't dare put aside and waste $$, comes out in clumps, which is easily seen on the walls. However, I still preferred 'orange peel in a spray can' over the other methods I mentioned. Until I found this Roll-A-Tex product. Now I can say that after 35 years of covering up ugly, I've found a product that is 1) the least labor intensive ever 2) very affordable 3) easy to use.I do not add the entire box of texture material to a gallon of paint. I used Medium grade, 1/3 of the box to 1/2 gallon of paint. I poured 1/2 gallon of paint into another new paint can then added 1/3 a box of texture material. I stirred this with a paint stick, poured it into a paint pan, and using an ordinary 3/8" nap paint roller I had at it. That ratio of 1/3 box texture to 1/2 gallon of paint results in a heavy texture. I'm going to experiment next with 1/4 box texture to 1/2 gallon paint. Here is what I learned to do to make it work the best A) don't go over the same area twice during the first coat of paint - it can make the texture clump in small places B) Push the roller down with pressure when picking up paint in the paint pan so you also pick up the texture on your roller - the texture tends to sink and as the paint in your paint pan decreases it will leave too much texture in the bottom of your pan C) plan on using a bit more paint than normal to cover your area - there seems to be some kind of absorption thing going on and it takes more paint than you might be used to.Is this product perfect? No. You'll never get a finish that looks like it came from the factory, perfectly uniform at 10 cents a square foot. Roll-A-Tex is, in my opinion, the best possible marriage of methods to hide and improve plug ugly walls. For me, in comparison to all other methods I've tried, it's the most cost effective for the best result. Now I just need to experiment a little with some Fine grade texture and with the ratios. I'm sure I'll come up with the perfect combination that I like. Happy texturing!!

I bought this mix-in texture to add to semigloss paint to cover our bathroom walls. The previous owned had put up hideously ugly wallpaper, and it took off half the paper on the drywall to get it all off because of the copious amount of paste used. This was the solution instead of time consuming fill in and sanding or re drywalling, which would have cost a ton more. Mixed into the paint, this made a beautiful and sturdy cover paint over the flaws and cracks in the walls. Looks beautiful and adds accent. Works exactly as described we poured it Ito a gallon of paint (in a separate bucket) and used a drill mixer attachment (available for a couple bucks at any hardware) to mix. Highly recommend.
