I had a 12 inch ruler like this and lost it. They make a great guide for cutting with a blade. I use them for cutting Plexiglas, thin wood, paper, upholstery, and fabric. After I bought this I found my old one any they are both just as good, and I also bought an 18 inch one at Walmart. The backing keeps it from slipping around as long as the surface is not dusty.

It's gots cork board underneath it and it comes with a blue plastic case. The case isn't high quality but still nice cuz the ruler can is sharp on the tips.Definitely worth your money!

This is a good ruler. It is thin metal with a cork backing. The cork backing gives it grip on what you are measuring, which is a good thing. The ruler is flexible so it won't take rough treatment, but the numbers are highly visible, and it has clean edges that can be used for cutting guides. It's probably best measuring flat surfaces like paper, etc. It's not an ideal tool box ruler. I bought two of them to put in places in the house where I might I need a ruler, and they have both come in handy. For the price, it's a no-brainer. Now I don't have to go scurrying around the house looking for a ruler when I need one. It's worth the cost for that convenience alone.
