The eye sling is perhaps the most versatile tether for rigging hardware, this one is made with 19mm Samson Tenex 12-Strand Single Braid, Sling-Grade Polyester, 25 ft. in length. A block, Portawrap or other device is secured within the sling’s eye, and a choking hitch such as a cow hitch or timber hitch is tied using the running end. Although one must know knots to use an eye sling, there’s no arguing its efficient simplicity. This ropes construction is stronger and more flexible than others because of its loosely woven, hollow construction. Since there is no core to this rope, abrasion wear is distributed throughout the cordage where it can be more easily monitored. 22,000 pound tensile strength, 2,200 pound WLL, weighs 4.9 pounds.

This rope sling is long enough to tie safely on larger trees and the hollow braid style helps with gription for your timber hitch or cow hitch. It's very good for both basal anchors for your lowering device like a port-a-wrap, your life support climbing rope or backup lifeline rope, or a canopy anchor for rigging with a heavy-duty block. In my big steel CMI blocks, the abrasion protection covering tends to be a little bulkier than I'd like and is likely not necessary for my purposes but I've left it on all my TENEX dead eye slings. The splicing by Rope Logic has always been trustworthy on the tenex slings they have made for me. This one is fine, too.
