The double-bevel HSS cutting face imparts fine parting lines to turnings. For a solid interface with the handle, the blade is seated and riveted a full 4-1/4" into the handle.

This Robert Sorby thin parting tool works very well. I bought it because my other parting tool was 1/4" wide and wasted too much wood for many of my turning applications. The only reason I did not give it five stars is due to what I consider a sub-par fit and finish from such a well known and highly respected tool manufacturer. But for the reasonable price and the way it works, I can overlook the nit-picking finish issue and I would recommend this tool to other turners.

Great tool so far. I haven't had any of the issues other reviews mention. Rivets are tight, handle is smothe, and tip hasn't burned. I use it to cut bowls off a a 4 inch maple glue block. When this one eventually wears out I'll certainly buy another one.

Works great. I only wish that the blade was longer.

Debated whether to purchase or not but was glad I did, great for 'cutting off' items on the lathe, keeps a good edge, all in all a great purchase!

My husband turns wood and wanted a knife with a very thin blade. He used it and loves the way it handles and the quality of the knife.

Size is correct and just what I needed for finishing job. Enough metal under tip to support proper cutting and disperse heat. After turning for 40+ years, this tool is a delight! Inexpensive, easy to sharpen, quick to use, and decent metal. Good basic tool.
