About this item

  • MECHANICAL PENCIL: The triangle textured grip offers wet or dry glove-friendly handling on the job site.
  • STRONG BARREL: The lightweight yet durable barrel and tough aluminum tip survives through the toughest conditions. The pencil survived our 8,500 pound forklift crush test.
  • BALANCE: The barrel and tip balance perfectly for a comfortable writing experience. Designed to be durable and comfortable for all-day, everyday use.
  • LEAD: Each Pencil comes with a 12 lead refill pack. The tough 1.3mm lead won’t easily snap at the tip or break in the shaft.
  • DARKNESS: The 1.3mm lead is a medium (HB) darkness. Dark enough to leave clear marks and not too soft as to easily break or crumble.
  • STRONG CLIP: The burly stainless steel clip won’t bend out of shape or break on your tool belt.
  • ERASE WITH CONFIDENCE: Specially formulated eraser removes marks while not chewing into the paper.

Do you prefer using pencils but fear they’ll break when it matters most when out taking notes? You're not alone. The Rite in the Rain Mechanical Pencil may well be the last pencil you'll ever need to buy. True to the Rite in the Rain brand, this pencil is tough, reliable, and writes no matter what. A hefty 1.3mm lead is not only tough, it writes smoothly on Rite in the Rain and other papers. This versatile tool can write in a notebook just as easily as it can mark lumber or drywall. This feature-rich pencil is ready to survive your work day! Made for tough jobs; Contractors, DIY, Police, EMS, Fire, Field Research, Camping, Hiking, Surveying...

Great little pencil. Comes with refills and it completes the set if you already have the pen. Functions like it should and it writes legibly. Comfortable in your fingers.

Study construction, and feels great in your hand. This is not the type of stationery you have to take care of. I use it everyday.

Aweful pencils. I'm a carpenter and tried them for my day to day work. Don't buy these if your thinking they will be tougher than other 1.3mm pencils. Eraser falls out way to easy (in the first day) shortly after the pencil no longer advances the lead. A waste of money. I'll stick with my good old kokuyo pencils. Way better and haven't had one quit on me yet (4 years and counting).

I got this in replacement for the yellow one which was metal and had a great heavy feel. This one is super light and feels much cheaper. Performance wise they seem to be the same.

Had to take a math course and was tired of my hand cramping from the usual mechanical pencils. It is larger to be certain but not huge. I would say 50% larger circumference than a standard mechanical. The larger lead also seems to have helped with my god awful handwriting as well. I was actually able to read my equations and notes for the class! The eraser is exceptional as well and will leave little to no lead on the paper (I have almost used the whole thing with the class...).The lead also works incredibly well on smooth lumber. Would recommend for anyone who has hand cramps with smaller pencils.

Purchased this mechanical pencil because 0.5mm and 0.7mm leads of other pencils I own can't take the abuse of marking laminate and other materials hard enough to make the cutting line easy to view. So far I am quite pleased with its functionality and fit for the purpose. I am not breaking leads, and the lead advance/retract feature works as it should. The triangular barrel shape keeps it on the workbench when other pencils blow off in the wind from miter saws. Quite satisfied and am contemplating getting a second to have around for desk use.

Nice pencil you can throw in a bag and not worry about breaking. Bright orange allows to you find it quickly.

So I have big fat hands that have both had carpal tunnel surgery a year ago. My dexterity is fine but skinny little pencils don't do it for me. I use three mechanical pencils:1. An Uni Kuru Toga, for fine work. The best part of this pencil is that it's metal and somewhat heavy with a great eraser.2. A Pica-Dry Longlife, which I use for carpentry, the little holster is sweet.3. This Rite-in-the-Rain 1.3, which I use for everything else.I really really like this pencil, it's generally comfortable , lays down a nice line on about anything (I use it for marking eggs for incubation a lot), and has a nice clip that rides well in a pocket. Replacement leads and erasers are cheap. My dislikes, which I think are unique to me:I wish it had a bigger barrel and was heavier. It doesn't feel flimsy exactly but it's not super ergonomic for big hands. The erasers do a great job erasing but they aren't tight enough in the cup that holds them, I've repeatedly had the pencil in my pocket with the clip and had the eraser come out of the cup. I don't like putting sharp things in chest pockets because I work a lot in the mud, but when I have to I use the Pica-Dry because of the holster. All in all this is a great pickup. It lets me help my kids with homework and write whatever needs written.

Always liked mechanical pencils but preferred the thickness of a wooden. This is great!
