It has a great eraser feature, and durable leads that are easy to replace. This pencil uses a different mechanism to extend the lead, but easy to get used to. Overall, amazing product!

I use mechanical pencils a lot, and have used a different Pentel .9 mm pencil for a long time. I also use a big variety of quality non-mechanical pencils. I use all these pencils for both writing and sketching. This pencil, however, is the best I’ve used. It’s barrel is thicker, with a rubber grip, which makes it very comfortable to hold. It’s just the right weight and heft to feel good in the hand. It has an easy feed mechanism… and a terrific, very effective eraser that you simply twist to extend whenever it starts to wear down. They’re very reasonably priced. I bought two so I could have both HB and 2B leads available. It’s hard to imagine a better designed, more useful, easy to use writing instrument! I’ve already given some as gifts.

Desde hace años sólo utilizo estos portaminas de 0,9.Con goma recargable y de un grosor que la hace útil, no como en otros portaminas

I love these pencils. I have been using them for over 20 years. I like the thicker lead for taking notes since it does not break as easily as the 0.5 lead, or maybe I'm just a hard writer. Either way, these pencils last forever and they have a long eraser inside that also lasts forever and can be replaced as needed.

This is the first .9mm pencil I've used and I love it. The lead is thick enough not to break like .07 and .05 leads. The eraser is perfect, much better than wood pencil erasers, because it removes almost all the wrong words I tried first, even multiple times in the same spaces. There isn't even much residue. It never tears the paper. I was using retractable erasers previously, with a pencil, but this replaces the 2 units. The only small issue is that the eraser tends to extend as you twist the pencil in hand, but that's very minor.I like thicker pens/pencils, and this is very comfortable. I've done probably 50 puzzles before needing to start a new lead. The extra pack of leads I bought will probably last the rest of my life! I even sent these pens to a crossword-solving friend in Florida and he loves them too.

I've had this for for 5 years and it still works great. I dropped it, lent it, lost it, found it at the back of my car, forgot it in my jacket, got washed, got dried and it still works great. Sure the dog bite marks are still there but nevertheless, it still works. The design is very simple yet solid. It gives off a very rugged look. Unlike the erasers of most mechanical pencils, this one won't push your lead out every time you erase something. The eraser feels solid, and will probably take a while before you go through it. Though, the package comes with 2 extra eraser. Even if you do use up those 2, you can simply buy more.Ever had that moment where you lose your eraser and you accidentally flip your mechanical pencil and the lead just goes our of the eraser hole? This mechanical pencil won't have that problem. The lead won't go through the eraser hole even though there's no eraser blocking it. It's a small and smart design.Refilling the lead is also different (in a good way) compared to other mechanical pencils. You don't have to take a cap off, remove the eraser unlike common mechanical pencils. You simply have to open the barrel and put the lead in and close it again. You don't have to deal with those moments where you have to scoop out the eraser first because it's too short before you're able to put the lead in.For general use, 0.9mm is the best for me. I can last a month without the lead breaking. The only thing I didn't like was the clip. While I didn't have any problems with it coming off, I do have problems with it rubbing on the skin between my index finger and my thumb. I usually take the clip out before I use it.

I have avoided these pencils for some time now. Yea I'm a bit of a pencil snob and gravitate to more Japanese offerings than a "gimicky" eraser and rubber grip. I finally decided to give these a go when I found them in 0.9mm (my goto size as I have a very heavy hand and snap smaller leads like they were nothing). Color me shocked at how nice these pencils work. The sleeve is a fixed design (pretty typical for pentel) and the entire cone section is true metal. In a nice twist the cone is a brushed metal rather then Pentels typical super shiny, super slippery, super fingerprint attracting chrome plate. A very enjoyable and eye pleasing twist. The rubber grip is actually comfortable. It has a grippy feel without being too sticky or tacky (yes shirt lint will stick, but it is not picking up grit when dropped on the floor). My one huge complaint (and the reason for a 4 star) is that the grip is not a perfect fit (at least on the black barreled one, as I have not tried out the blue barrel yet). By this I mean in certain positions you can feel the grip pulling away form the barrel underneath. Certainly not a deal breaker, but an imperfection none the less. THe barrel itself does have a slight flex to it, but nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing I expect will lead to breakage. THe twist eraser is smooth, and works as well as a Pink Pearl eraser. Certainly not Pentels finest eraser (i.e. Ain, or even the click series) but as good as the typical tiny Pentel offering that appears in so many of my beloved Pentel MPs (GG1000, GG500, Graphlet, Sharp, Marksheet, etc.) I do seem to enjoy writing with the larger barrel design, no more or less hand fatigue. THe mechanics are pure Pentel smoothness, and I was tickled to find some nice solid brass clutches, and retainer rings in the guts of this pencil. You will honestly be hard pressed to find a more consistent pencil at any price. I'm not a pocket carry type of person, my pencils typical ride around with me in my belt pouch, so I;m in no way qualified to judge the issue of the top cap pull away from the body. The friction fit seems pretty good to me and I think the use of the multi sided inner barrel will assure a nice long life. One annoying thing is the top half does not slide back onto the body completly unless the lead advance mechanism is engaged (which does mean that the tolerances between the two halves are nice and tight so a pretty fair trade-off). The pencil comes standard with 3 Pentel Super High Poly HB leads. They are good, but for a real treat pick up a tube of Pentel AIN STIEN in 2B hardness. The absolute best and smoothest lead I have ever written with. Also a great lead for those Suduko pulp books as it is darker and softer and tends not to poke thru the pages. So yes I'm pleased and surprised by this Pentel offering. It is as good as I had hoped (actually better as I was sure there was going to be a lot of slop between the 2 body halves). Oh and this pencil is made in Japan so that was a nice bonus for me.
