I thought something was wrong with it at first but once mounted it works good. It will need a little tuning but not much. Maybe 3 degrees. It is probably the best I could find before jumping into the $250 range. I had the $250 one for about 25 years before the oil left. I called to get a repair done but decided to just get this new cost friendly one.

My console top compass was broken on the used boat I purchased.Bought this as a replacement and it was simple to install.I use an app on my phone to navigate but assume this would work great if my phone dies or I wanted to pretend like I was a pirate navigating the intercostal waterways.Looks great too!

My 30 year old Richey HF-72 compass sprung a leak so I had a sizable bubble in the dome hampering readability. I opted to replace it with this smaller F-50 compass for two reasons. 1) The repair on the old compass would probably equal or exceed the cost of the F-50. 2) my wife could never figure out how to read the HF-72 with its flat compass card. We’re just coastal navigators so a fancy compass isn’t warranted and the F-50 more than fills the bill. Happy with the install and readability of this compass.

My factory unit had a crack in the dome and the fluid leaked out. Considered sending in for repair, and instead opted for the replacement which includes the service revision/upgrades. Works like a charm and the price was nice. Lights up in the dark again!
