I have had this for about a week now. I wanted when of these paper roll dispensers for when I send out orders and I need to wrap things. This is a perfect size... the color a love... the sturdier seems good - I need to check out different size rolls of paper... but it appears that it will adjust nicely to a larger size roll than the one I purchased. The teeth on the cutter piece is excellent. At this point I stabilize the section that does the cutting... because my roll is small and the paper is a little thicker. Not a big deal because it tears super clean and easy. Definitely happen with this purchase!

I have kept my butcher paper roll on a vintage butter churn dasher that I found in the attic. I actually prefer the vertical storage that the dasher provides, however this cutter has a couple of advantages: (1) it actually does cut the paper, and (2) the cutting bar actually secures the end of the roll. Previously, I had been securing the roll with an elastic band and using scissors or a blade to cut the paper. While I live for re-purposing/re-using items whenever I can, I acknowledge that sometimes new is better. My deduction of 1 star is because the lift/lower action of the cutting bar is wonky: when I lower it to load a roll, the action is uneven; only one side lowers, and I have to manually lower the other side of the bar. Other than that, this is great for butcher paper. Oh, one other thing - I am not brave enough to even think of mounting such a heavy roll to my old sheetrock walls with those anchors and screws.

I'm so glad I got this. I am constantly struggling when trying to wrap various meats coming off the smoker at various stages. If it's not wrapping to rest the meat I'm wrapping to put it back on the smoker for a stage of the smoke that requires wrapping depending on what meat I'm smoking. In every case I'm outside and inevitably the wind is usually blowing my butcher paper at just the time I've got the meat in my hands and trying to transfer to the work area to wrap it. Picture someone holding a brisket in both hands and butcher paper flying across the yard! This roll cutter serves a dual purpose in my case! Not only does it stay put , it allows me to stretch out the needed amount of paper and leave it attached until the meat is in place prior to cutting the paper off. I'm not sure if many people can picture what I'm describing but let's just say it makes dealing with wrapping the various meats much easier in a lot of cases! The paper roll doesn't come with it but as long as you have the right size roll it's easy to install and the cutter works great. I use it as a stand but it has the option of being mounted to a wall if that is what you need. This is a must have item for any BBQ enthusiast!

I'm generally pleased with the quality of this roll cutter, but couldn't you have provided some better instructions?It comes in a box and wrapped nicely in bubble wrap. The roll cutter comes folded but opens out fairly easily with a little pulling. Once opened up, it seems to be permanently open since I cannot find any information or instructions about closing it back up. Once you have the roll cutter unfolded, you can unlatch part of it through hard effort since it was not clearly instructed how to do so. After getting the cutter arm part unlatched, you can take out the wooden dowel then add your roll of butcher paper to it.Once you have the roll installed, the cutter arm can be settled back to its initial position where it will hug the roll with seemingly weak tension. This cutter rests on the roll and can be used to tear off any desired length of paper by holding the cutter in place against the roll. The overall process of preparing the roll cutter and installing a roll of butcher paper seemed needlessly complicated by the fact that they do not provide adequate instructions.The hardware itself once fully setup seemed to work fine enough. The tension of the cutter arm seems a little lacking since the roll can easily be displaced, but it does not appear to impede the performance significantly because you hold the cutter while tearing the paper. The entire construct itself is also fairly hefty and sturdy enough but needlessly complicated by the lack of telegraphed usage instructions.Overall, it works but I wish it wasn't as difficult to prepare, use, and store away as it is now.

Picked this up for my outdoor smoker prep station. I tried using the feet initially but the unit is a little too light, especially near the end of the paper roll. I wanted it to be mobile so I could put it in the cabinet when I'm not using it, so I mounted it to a piece of 4/4 oak that I had left over from a project and put some rubber feet on the bottom.The bar puts good tension on the paper roll and cuts well. Not as good as the industrial ones I used when I was a butcher, but more than adequate for home use!I haven't had a chance to use it a lot since our smoking season is coming to a close. Works really well when I was splitting up some bulk beef and wrapping in meal size packages. I'm excited to use it for what I intended next year, that is wrapping meat for the smoker.
