Not very soft. I had to use a little innovation but I made them work.

First of all these are the o lyrics handle replacement I could find that had the 5.2" hole spacing. These handles are solid and feel undistructable. The movement side to side is easy and they are long enough to acomodate your forearm without feeling uncomfortable. The pading is not super soft but still acceptable. They look sleek and are worth the money.

It is an excellent replacement for my chair that was already years old with broken pads. But it's not as durable or comfortable.

The new armrests fitted my chair without any issues. Good quality product.

Easy to install. Not a perfect match to the old ones, but close enough. Much better than replacing the chair.

Needed to reorder office arms for our receptionist chair, We took measurements the look is not like my originals but they serve the purpose. They look nice so if you want to keep your office furniture looking new and not worn out replace them with this product. REALLY NICE FIT.

Very functional but not soft at all! Seems to lack any cushion.

This armrest is good, but not as soft as advertised. It's more like the vinyl of a dashboard, in terms of softness. It gives, but it's firm. I think it's just injection molded vinyl, but it has a steel insert with threaded screw holes bored in for the screws. My set of armrests did not come with any screws, so I had to scavenge a set from a junker chair.Once on the current chair, they do provide better support for more of the length of the arm from elbow to wrist, and part of the palm.My only gripe is the bulge, just under the wrist. Other than that the shape of the armrest contours to the shape of your arm, fairly nicely.I would recommend getting a padded cover to make the rests softer, though. No big deal, really. If you're a gamer who likes to recline a bit, you might want to put shims under the back ends of the rests, so that when you recline, your arms are still level with the hand controllers, and you have comfortable access without loosing full support of your arm. Just a pro tip, there. The rests seem quite sturdy, and definitely more rugged than the ones they replace.
