For a system that includes four cameras, NVR (recording base), and a 2 TB hard drive be asking price of $500 is downright cheap. That isn't the quality is anything less than very good. It's not cinematic quality, but it is still very clear and likely more than enough than most will need for a simple residential or retail set up. if you're protecting Fort Knox then you'll probably want to invest in something a little more full featured, but for a simple set up this is great.Set up a simple and easy as you only need to run one cable to each camera. It can take some time, but isn't overly difficult it just takes patience. YouTube helped a lot with running the low-voltage cable through the walls where I needed to. I purchased a basic Cable fishing kit on Amazon and worked on one camera at a time.Functionality is very good, however a bit limited compared to higher end models. Mostly feature features that aren't needed in a residential set up where you're not routinely reviewing the security footage.A major selling point with this system is the lack of subscription. It also doesn't require an Internet connection to Function as it records locally. If you do have an Internet connection, it doesn't upload every second of every piece of footage to the 'cloud' so you won't burn through a ton of data. Only when you remote login to playback will it send data out over the Internet. On that note, accessing it remotely over some Internet services may be challenging. Starlink and T-Mobile home Internet come to mind. This is due to a technical limitation on how they share their Internet connection with all the users. Not a dealbreaker, but may create some trouble should you have a provider that uses technology referred to as CG-NAT.Otherwise these cameras are performing great! The low light performance is better than expected, motion detection is reliable and saves storage, and the the local storage saves on monthly subscription fees. This is a great little system for home and small business use.

I recently purchased this Reolink Smart 5MP 8 Channel Home Security System with 4 - 5MP Cameras for our small business. This Kit comes with the 8 Channel NVR , 4 - 5MP turret cameras and 4 - CAT5E cords that are long enough for most applications. Setup was straight forward as the Reolink App makes the process extra easy. Just install your cameras in the desired location, plug in your CAT5E cords to the camera and back of the NVR, Power on the Unit, setup as password, set a timezone and scan the QR code to get up and running. What we liked most about the Reolink system is...-Extremely Easy to Setup-Cameras Have a great Picture and Night Vision works great-Cameras have higher FPS then equivalent cameras at this price point.-Cameras have built in AI for a lower price point to similar systems.-Reolink App is ntuitive and easier to use.-Reolink NVR is very responsive, especially when playing back video.-Setup is a snap, cameras are automatically setup by the system.-Better price points then other systems on the market with these features offered.

First impressions are good. The NVR and the cameras seem very well made and they are well packaged and protected. Everything you need is included and the cables are even fairly generous lengths. The specs also are very good so I had high expectations as a started setting everything up.Most of the setup - in terms of physical installation - is intuitive enough. I needed to mount one of the cameras on a vertical wall and it clearly wasn't set up for that so I wondered whether it was even possible. There's no manual included so I looked for the online instructions. At least when I was looking there were none. In fact, there was almost no mention of this model on the manufacturers website at all. There was a product page for the kit but no manuals or details on any of the component parts. I had to go through the manuals of several of their other products until I found one that looked similar enough to this that it might apply. In the end it took me an hour to figure out how to simply adjust where the camera is facing, with virtually no help from and manufacturer documentation.By this time I was frustrated with it. My experience is all with Unifi security cameras, which are much easier to work with and well documented. But I carried on to complete the setup and see how it all worked. Starting the NVR up was easy enough and the setup was fairly intuitive. Once everything was up and running though my disappointment deepened. The software side seems very basic, and I couldn't figure out how to use even basic features - if they even exist. Compared to what I am used to with Unifi this felt like a huge step backwards. I started to think that I must be missing something, that it couldn't be this simplistic, but after my bad experience looking for help on their website I didnt feel inclined to go looking for help.In the end I decided not to use it - apart from the product build quality, it felt like a big step backwards from my older unifi setup. If there are other options for the software side of things then that would make a big difference, and just putting supporting documentation online would help. But I didnt go back to look for those things.

Cameras were easy to setup and install. Ran into a few issues with nvr not displaying on TV but support helped me fix that issue from the app.

I normally use a wifi camera system but I wanted to try this wired system to see if I would like it better. I gotta say it is way better, often times with my wifi setup I would have issues with the connection or lag but everything here is captured, clear and smooth. The system was a bit of a pain to install but once I got it working I prefer it. The 2tb storage is sufficient for me but it its nice knowing I can upgrade it. The cameras are very well built and they say vandal proof so I am glad I don’t have to worry about someone tampering with it. It has worked well even in the canadian winter which is great. I had problems with cameras getting covered in snow or fogging but these stay clear. Very nice to be able to see all around my property, well worth the price and time it took to install.

I have been running this Reolink Smart 5MP (8 Channel) Home Security System with 4x cameras at home to compare it to our current system that is roughly the same in specs. The first element to appreciate with this system is the turret camera systems, I recently upgraded to this style of camera of the fixed variety and I will never go back, turrets are so much more functional.Setup.if this system is quite simple as ypu really only need to choose you camera locations and pathways for the CAT5E cable back to the NVR. Really, the planning of locations for both the cameras and the NVR are the biggest considerations in setting one of these systems up. Once you have that figured the actual system itself, is a breeze. Cable distances are also a factor but the supplied cables lengths are quite reasonable and should cover most applications. As far as system setup is concerned, you need only make your physical connections to the cameras, power up the unit and fill in requested info like a password, time zone and scan the provided QR code to be up and running in almost no time at all. After about a month of use, I must say that I am quite impressed with this system. Image quality during both day and night applications is very good. Crisp and clear with a wide (130°) field of view. We have seen a range of weather and temperatures over this last month and despite freezing rain, high humidity during temperature spikes, blowing snow and temperatures as low as -31C, the lense have been free of ice, condensation and the turrets have moved freely without "jams".While the user app is fairly intuitive, I found the interface feels very dated and "clunky" compared to other comparable systems that I have used. There was absolutely no documentation provided with this kit so a first time user might have found themselves much further behind the eight ball than someone of my experience would be. This is a major draw back for this system, as far as I am concerned, especially when one considers that even an on-line search provided no reaults.User configuration is fairly flexible and suits me needs in terms of defining length of recordings, image resolutions, scan zones and trigger sensitivity. The NVR itself has a 2TB storage capacity for hours and hours of recording capacity that recycles older videos to make space for new ones, though again, this drives holds a ton of footage."AI" is also a touted feature of this system and while that is a credit to REOLINK at this price point, it is my experience that I have no appreciable performance boost al, as a result. While I believe it is used as a means to better interpret what the cameras are "seeing" and when to trigger, I saw no evidence of it actually performing better than my "non AI" system. In the end, I feel that this is a competent system that is worthy of consideration, especially if you already have some experience with these systems. I would look for it at a discounted price though, I am not convinced that it is worth the full price being asked. It is certainly worthy of consideration, but it is not an outstanding value or performer to make it a "highly recommended" choice.

The Reolink 5Mo 8 CH home security system is very good. It came on the right moment. The system QE had was getting old and was setup by a provider with coaxial cables and power cables etc.I saw this one and I imagined it could be what I needed. It was. First, it has an application although very simple, but it does work.Second, it came with everything I needed. Also, it is waterproof and can be installed in the backyard too.My previous system was installed inside because I was afraid cameras would get damaged or even vandalized. This system, the cameras are vandalproof.I examined them and they are tough and solid. You will be shocked if this is your first advanced modern system. The videos are sharper and clearer. They also cover more distance. The night vision is also a huge difference. The technical stuff is very easy to understand: 2 TB storage or link it to your own high capacity storage. The Reolink system also offers two way communication.I also tried the siren and it is very loud. The detection also has many features and can be adjusted to a specific instruction such as humans only to minimize the alerts.I am happy with it and I have lots to learn about it as I go.I am not sure that the price is at par with what it can do. A bit high, but it beats the rental stuff from the security company.I like this system and I recommend it.

Huge piece of advice: don't expect the included hard drive to last. I'd recommend ordering a replacement at the same time to keep on hand. Drives struggle with these heavy-use write-intensive uses. That these are PoE is great, means only one cable to run to each camera, and no signal issues to deal with. Annoying that the cameras aren't ptz, so you have to manually set them when you install them. That said, I've seen single ptz cameras that cost as much as this entire kit. The NVR that drives it all has 4 open PoE ports, so you could feasibly expand the system to 8 cameras. NVR also has an HDMI port, so you could use this kit to make a basic isolated cam network, which is a great option to have. The software is meh. The directions are meh. This is what you get when you want to have a basic cam system setup without breaking the bank. This is not a high end, polished solution. Overall solid recommendation.
