Cooling fans make spinning blade noise, partly blocked by grill struts on one side and couple noise into NVR top and bottom surfaces. Makes it easy for burglars to find the NVR and take it with them so you have no video of the burglary. Also annoying if you are sitting reading a book in a quiet house. I modifed the housing, bought a quieter fan, reduced the fan speed and improved the flow path to reduce the noise while directing the flow over the PC board and hard drive. The improvements would cost nothing if made part of the original design. Swann needs to get this right. They are throwing away value and reputation.

This was my second camera surveillance product from Swann. I am not happy with the quality of either of the new products. both just stopped working. 3rd one I bought from the amazon, and it did not work at all, the power adaptor was not working. I am now buying any more swan products.

THESE ARE REFURBISHED!!!!! Got my NVR in and it was already logged into an account???? Customer service wants me to download a software on my computer so I can wipe the hard drive???? What do I look like? Just purchased different brand NVR. Looking forward to see if it works. I’m so done with Swann and their unhelpful customer service.

We purchased one of these NVRs from Costco a number of years ago and it finally died. I purchased a replacement from Amazon that was priced at $440.00. Turns out that the one that showed up was a refurbished one that was still password locked. We were able to fix the issue but it could have been a real headache for someone a little less tech savvy. If you are a seller, selling refurbished or used items you need to make it clear in the description. You should also make sure they are useable by your customer. Fail on the sellers part. NVR works great! Crystal clear on the 4k cameras that we have also easy set up with POE connections. Exterior cameras that we have have lights and the picture is in color when activated. Great system. Highly recommend. (As long as it's not locked!)

Received the item. Worked for all of about 5 minutes, then shorted out. Returned back to reseller. No good.
