The Coated Diplomat is slightly warmer than the Clear Diplomat due to a thin layer of coating on the single ply of Mylar film. They're known for their bright warm tones, resonance, and sustain.

If you want the correct crown height take your banjo to the "Banjo Doctor"! To short doesn't work. To long and the neck will wobble. TAKE CARE AND TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL B. DOCTOR but I ain't ya mama.

Reno makes a great product but these should be shipped in boxes. Unfortunately I had to reorder this as the first one was badly damaged, and this was the replacement.

With a new set of clips, this banjo head greatly improved the sound quality of my banjo. My playing? Well, that's not the job of the banjo head!

The high collar is the standard for flathead banjos. The top frosted head is the standard in bluegrass. I personally like the bottom frosted heads though, since they hold up and clean up better than the top frosted heads; if you play Scruggs-style like I do, then your anchor fingers will eventually wear away the top frosting. On the other hand, you can argue that it is easier to anchor your fingers on a top-frosted banjo head. It's all personal preference.
