Raw copper is drawn to meet specific Size requirements based on the National electrical manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA mw-80-c standard for operating temperature (155°c/311°f) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified polyurethane with a polyimide overcoat, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.

A little less packaging, but it is a good product so far.

We used this to make a "homemade" generator for a science project. Worked great. We wrapped it around a cardboard tube, and spun magnets inside to generate a little current.

I used this wire for classroom science projects. Usually, that involves smaller cuts of wire (up to 15 feet). Contrary to other reviews, my wire was wrapped well, unwound easily, and never became tangled. Exactly what I was looking for.

Works as I had hoped, simple product, suits my needs. Would recommend to anyone needing enameled magnetic wire. Not that I know that many people needing something like this. :)

I use this magnet wire for wiring model starships. The soldier easily melts off the lacquer on the wire. The wire tanks up very little space and is excellent for this purpose.

This coil of wire was what was needed for the project. (science project involving magnetic induction through coils)Product was as advertised. (coated, enameled copper 30 AWG. @ 1 lb.) Enough footage to make all the windings needed for this project and get the results required. Competitively priced.Arrived on time and packaged well. ("Free shipping" cost with minimum $25 purchase from Amazon if I recall correctly. Not a Prime eligible product)

After reading reviews of other magnet wire on Amazon, and noting the large number of complaints of broken spools or tangling, I decided to take a risk on this wire instead. Big mistake. The spool did NOT arrive broken, which is good. I was winding this around a 1 1/2" PVC pipe, and I got to about 265 turns when the wire disappeared into the spool with no intention of continuing to unroll. I ended up breaking the edge of the spool (see product images) trying to untangle it. It's clear, now that this won't be possible. I might end up cutting the wire where it is, then cutting another loop on the surface of the spool and starting again. This is very poorly hand-wound trash. If you need a long continuous length of magnet wire, don't waste your money here. Instead, buy something that's machine wound that won't tangle every hundred feet.I've also bought 20 AWG wire off Amazon, and it's large enough that it doesn't matter that it's not greatly wound. 30 AWG is too small for this silliness, and it's extremely frustrating to have wasted money on this. Next time I'll spend more and get something that's machine-wound in neat little rows.Update: I just cut it and cut a loop from the middle of the spool. I got 96 turns before it got caught; this time I pulled, and it broke. I cut another spot on the spool, and I got less than 3 turns before it got stuck and broke. This wire is pretty much worthless to me. I should've flushed my money down the toilet instead...it would have been far less frustrating, and it would've been fun watching it spin down the drain.
