Magnet wire is a common commodity. It worked for the purpose for which I purchased it.

I received the spool of enamel magnet wire that was professional packaged and delivered on time. The quality of the wire was as specified and the spool was durable. I will use this wire to build a large magnetic coil. This wire will do the job nicely.

This is a 2.5 inch diameter tube for a crystal radio build. I get about 10 turns in a centimeter. I was hoping there was enough wire for at least 150 turns with the plan being 170 turns. I got around 110 turns before I ran out of wire. Otherwise the wire is excellent quality, wraps well, no kinks in the spool and is just right on the pliability side. I will have to look for a larger spool of the same quality.

This is the first time I actually made a magnetic field on a Lionel O Gauge locomotive coupler. It works great. I took the fielding wire made a knot around the shank of the coupler, than laid the wire the length of the shaft. I took the couplers pivot end and put it in the chuck of my drill. I started winding by hand so the first knot I made didn’t slide around the shaft. I slowly started the drill and wound the shank of the coupler as neatly as possible. I used 220 grit sand paper to remove the enamel from the ends of the wire to be soldered. It turns out it works perfectly.

What can I say. It behaves exactly as the wire tables specify. It is ideal for high voltage low current application.

With copper prices going through the roof I bought this as an investment and plan to sell it on for a at least an extra 50p in a years time. You get lots of it, the lacquer is easy to scrape off for when you need to solder it, and it definitely looks like it has at least some copper in it.Was the best I could find for the price.

Just what I needed to repair some terracotta flower pots. I used copper wire to firmly ‘stitch’ the broken pieces together.
