It creates a lot of noise, so devices that need a CLEAN line (medical, safety, etc.) don't work.

This product was easy to set up and use! It provided me with a temporary telephone jack in my basement office, until I am able to extend a "real" telephone extension line along the basement ceiling from one of the upstairs jacks. The voice / sound quality on this device was relatively acceptable at first, but it began to significantly deteriorate with a prominent electronic buzz starting to drown out callers' voices after a couple of months of use. I have a power-line conditioner / surge suppressor hooked up to the house's circuit breaker box, so the household electrical system should be "clean" enough to avoid this kind of radio frequency problem. I am not completely certain that this issue is a product defect. However, I can say that this product represents, at best, only a decent short-term solution to having some kind of functional phone jack in a spot that does not have a hardwired traditional one, but is still near a vacant electrical outlet. I guess that I really need to move up my plans to install a regular phone jack myself, and I probably should not have invested in the stopgap solution that this product represents, especially since my needs for a line extension are more for convenience, rather than necessity at this point! If anyone has a short-term, emergency need for gaining access to a local telephone jack, without having to undertake more extensive line hook-up work, this might still be a good option to consider. Otherwise, based on my experience, it is not such a great value just for convenience sake!

If I could give this a - star I would! Does not work! Save your money and try a different brand. I had a different brand and it worked for 10 years but this did not link up at all. It was suggested that it needed to be on the same circuit as the base. Whose house is wired where all the plugs are on the same circuit! There is only 25' distance between the two plugs so that should not be the problem! It's a piece of JUNK and does not work the way it should.DISAPPOINTED!!!

This worked well to transfer a caller ID signal to an area where I have a cable box and TV. This was very good for my needs, but I did listen to the line and it was noisy when using some outlets. I also had a tough time finding two different outlets that would "talk" to each other and transfer the caller ID signal; but after a lot of trial and error it seems to work flawlessly.

When I decided to connect my phone service via the Internet, I hadn't really thought about the fact that I now have only 1 phone jack. This problem is solved if you have a cordless phone where only 1 unit needs to be plugged into the phone jack. However, what about those of us who may need to connect our satellite / cable service / fax machine / another computer, etc., to a phone jack? The solution is the RCA RC930 Caller-ID-Compatible Wireless Modem Jack ---- its easy to install; just plug in the base unit next to your existing phone / internet connection which both get plugged into the base. Then you have an Extension Unit that you can plug in anywhere in your home to place a phone jack where you need it, when you need it. So far, it works great --- I have been able to plug the extension in near my fax machine when I need to send a fax; then, when I want to download a PPV movie, I can move the extension next to the satellite receiver to do so.I realized that since I don't send faxes all the time and since I don't download movies all the time, 1 extension unit is enough for my needs since I can move it anywhere I need it.I am happy with my purchase and the RCA Wireless Modem Jack works great! I give this product 5 stars!

I bought this as a required telephone connection for my satellite TV. This saved me from having to run a TV cable to my satellite box. The baud rate isn't great for other applications, but this works well for what I bought it for.

It is always risky buying a semi-expensive product on-line, because if you have to return it, it is a lot of work/hassle for the amount of money you get back. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! SPARE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION! FIrst of all, I didn't even get what I ordered. I ordered (and payed for) the more expensive Caller-ID compatible RC930 wireless jack, but they sent me the cheaper, non-caller ID compatible one. I decided to go ahead and use it and after carefully following the directions and the troublshooting guide IT DIDN'T WORK. Then after calling tech support and CAREFULLY following the automated trouble shooting directions it still didn't work. So then I called back again and waded thru the automated directions again so I could finally be connected to a live technician, ONLY TO GET A BUSY SIGNAL. So now I have to go thru the hassle of returning this product to get my $53.79 back, and I still don't have a phone jack where I wanted one. Looks like hardwiring a new phone line will be easier.
