Unit wouldn’t operate for more than 5 seconds before shutting down and becoming unresponsive. The only way to resume was to remove and reinsert the battery, which was a fully charged standard dewalt 20v 5ah.

I should preface this with the fact that I'm a home gamer. I will not be rigorously using this product on a daily or even weekly basis. That said, I used it for a home wood working project and I was very impressed. It does a great job sanding, the sanding disks that were provided were over a useful range of grits and of good quality. The sander was relatively ergonomic and seemed to function flawlessly. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I would purchase it again. Now the reasons it is not a 5 star review:1) It has no low-battery protection. You do need to be careful as a sander like this will hit your battery pretty hard, and this one will not shut off when your battery goes low (I found this out the hard way). So it will be easy to pull batteries all the way down, which might make them fail to charge and or cause permanent damage.2) The off switch is not very responsive. You hit the same button to turn it on and it will immediately spring to life, however to shut it off you need to hold down the button for 1 to 2 seconds. This is just a minor annoyance, but I did find it frustrating.

Size is a bit large for my hand but that does not prevent a problem. I usually buy name brands but the price of this made it a good value. I used it to break the glaze of of a new pressure treated deck before staining. It sands.
