After watching the "How to set the timer" video, I found working with the timer to be simple and effective. Every home owner who either has to manually water their yard, shrubs, or foundation should buy this!

This rain point 1 zone water timer works great and is easy to setup and install. I’ve tested both the manual mode and the set schedule mode. The scheduled mode turned on and off when it was supposed to and the manual mode easily let me add an additional watering whenever I wanted. This timer would be good to automate watering for one area that needs the same watering schedule, as it has one hose attachment and allows you to setup one watering schedule. One thing to note is that there is no wifi connection on this timer( some of the rain point timers do have wifi) so if you need to change the schedule often, this is probably not the model for you. I think of this as ideal for an area that can have a one time set and forget schedule for the growing season. The rain delay is a nice feature but I’ probably won’t remember to go outside to manually turn on the delay on each time it rains, so I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out if it. The brass hardware is also nice. I like the look. I feel like the plastic degrades overtime and becomes brittle with the summer heat/UV light, I do not have any concerns about that happening at this connection site.Directions- there are two sets of directions. A quick start guide and a user manual. I recommend going directly to the user manual as it was easier to understand exactly what to do. It took about 20 min reading the manual and setting up the timer /watering schedule before brining it outside and attaching it to the faucet. The instructions were clear and the setup process was quick and easy to implement. I did not have any parts of the directions that I found confusing. There is a setup video online also if you prefer not to read the instructions.I appreciate that it comes with an extra filter, washers, and the teflon that is recommended to put around the hose threads. Not everyone would would think of adding the teflon or have it handy. The only thing that you need to provide yourself are two AAA batteries. I also appreciate the efficient packaging, there is minimal waste and packaging is cardboard that can be recycled.Overall, I would definitely recommend this product if you have an area that you want to automatically water that needs only one hose and would be successful on the same watering schedule.

Straightforward programmable water timer to connect to a hose, for the purpose of automatic watering of something. It works, it's simple to program, it does what it's supposed to do. The only reason I knock 1 star off is that I wish it was simpler to override it for manual control. As it stands, you have to press and hold the manual override button and select a amount of time to have the hose on for manual watering. I wish there was just one button press to turn the valve on and off for manual use.

I bought 15 of these to water a newly seeded lawn. I bought them because of the hourly watering feature thinking I could use the combination of the start time and frequency to achieve what I wanted: water every 9 hours starting at 7am for X number of minutes (different amounts for different sprinklers).I have my sprinklers daisy-chained with a 2-way splitter at each sprinkler and just staggered the start time for each one so they'd have enough water pressure to run well. I have them mostly hooked right to the sprinklers directly, but I also needed a few short (3') hose extensions to keep the all the timer controls accessible for all of them. The way this is built, though, the start time option in this timer only works on the first day of watering. It is ignored after that and it doesn't reset each day. What it's doing is just adding the number of hours you set in the "how often" option to the last watering time. This happens perpetually until the end of time after your first day's start time. It doesn't care if it's the middle of the night - it will continue to water every X hours nonstop forever. For example, in my case with the above settings:Day 1: 7am, 4pm (no problem - as expected)Day 2: 1am, 10am, 7pmDay 3: 4am, 1pm, 10pmetc, etcWhat I had expected is that the start time would be used each day:day 1: 7am, 4pmday 2: 7am, 4pmday 3: 7am, 4pmetcSince I programmed a "start time" of 7am and my frequency landed the third watering at 1am the next day, I would have thought the timer would think "oh! that's before the start time!" and ignore it and then pick up at 7am again. It doesn't. Again, the start time only works on DAY 1.My workaround is to go and reset them at the end of each day so the start time gets reset. I don't understand how anyone could use the hourly watering feature unless:a) They set it for every 12 hours - in this case, the time of day would never change. This works at the height of summer, maybe, but in the spring/fall it would be difficult to have this land during daylight hours.b) They manually turn their water on at their desired start time on Day 2 and onwards. And if they wanted it to stop watering (since there's no "end time" option) they'd need to turn off their water at the end of each day.c) If you have them daisy chained like I do, buy a different timer (not one of these) and install it at the hose bib before all the other timers and set that one with a desired start/end time to ensure no watering happens overnight (still doesn't solve for the shifting start time, though - would only work with even-numbered frequencies or every hour)d) They are okay with the system watering all hours of the day or night (I can't imagine this being useful)This could be solved completely by adding an "end time" feature to the device or even partly solved for by programming the unused "OK" button to add some sort of "reset each day" option. The "end time" option would require a change to their hardware which might be a big deal, but the "reset each day" would just be reprogramming to make it a little smarter and solve for more scenarios. Even simpler would be to make "reset each day" the default even if you can't control it.While it is partly on me for not understanding how their feature worked before buying, I think the description of the product's feature is misleading. They should make this a LOT more clear for those of us interested in the hourly watering feature. The description should say something like "START TIME ONLY WORKS ON DAY 1". I would've spent the $5 more for their multi-schedule timer had I known. Then I wouldn't have this problem. So I took off one and half stars for a stated feature that is poorly implemented. I took of another 1.5 stars because out of 15 units, 3 have failed. In two, water filled inside the LCD screen enclosure. In one, the manual water option does not work.I would have given a one-star rating, except these are about the cheapest watering timers you can get and the ones that didn't break work pretty flawlessly and simply (with above caveats). I can see some value if you only wanted these for the daily watering feature - at that point, I expect the start time is always the same and (expect for product quality issues) this might solve the need perfectly. For hourly watering timings, timings, I would not recommend this product unless you can deal with one of the workarounds.
