In harsh environment testing The esp-9v outlasted the competition by 70%. after being submerged in water at alternating extreme hot and cold temperatures The esp-9v was still going strong after the competition failed in less than two days.

Great battery operated controller. Allowed me to have a zone for a raised bed that I could not access from my regular sprinkler system and prevented having to mount a sprinkler control box on the front of the house since this could be hidden in the ground with easy access.

It was easy to program. Seemed to be waterproof and well made. You absolutely have to get a Rainbird solenoid valve. They won’t work without it though

I own a commercial Landscape company and over the years I have bought approx 30 of theses timers. Every single one has stopped working after a year or so or after turning them off for a few weeks during the rainy season. RainBird Knows this. My Sprinkler supply shop has replaced almost every single one giving me the option to trade for the always working Hunter Node " Bless them!". For RainBird valves you still need to use the RainBird latching solenoid, but it's worth it to use the Hunter Node for your Timer. RainBird makes some great products and I prefer their Valves over Hunters, but this battery timer is JUNK, and now very few professional Irrigation supply stores will carry it. I have had so much trouble with these that I had to share my experience.

I have replaced all of my 9V controllers with Rainbirds and I am pleased with my choice. the previous devices--made bt Hunter-- were impossible to program reliablyand lack the twin power these devices own. Beautifully designed and handsome to boot. strongly recommended.

I work in irrigation at a country club and we use these. They go bad and stop working after only a few months or so give or take. You cant push the buttons or change the programming after a while.Rainbird used to make controllers that would last for years, and they changed to this. It works good when you first install and use it, but they always crap out way sooner than they should.Expensive piece of garbage

I haven't used it much yet but it was easy to install and fairly intuitive to program. The instructions well written.
