About this item

  • Phantom-powered High-resolution Active Direct Box with -15dB Pad f Passive Guitars Basses

The Radial Pro48 is a high-performance 48V phantom powered active direct box designed specifically for low-volume instruments with passive pickups. The Pro48's innovative digital switching power supply significantly increases headroom and allows for less distortion while yielding a smooth, linear response extending from 20Hz to well above 100kHz resulting in natural, uncolored signal transfer. This superior performance makes the Pro48 an ideal candidate for use with low-output instruments that require extra amplification. The compact Pro48 is built road-ready with 14 gauge steel in Radial's unique book-end design that provides protective zones around the switches and connectors. The internal welded I-beam construction assures outside stress will not torque the PC board thus assuring longer product life. The Pro48 is designed for high-use applications wherever an active direct box is called for. A -15dB pad switch is provided to tame hot signal and expands the range of instrument preamps and the ground

This item sits perfectly with my acoustic guitars. Very clear and crisp signal. I wish I could buy 3 more for the shelf.

I use these Radial PRO48 DIs on acoustic guitars, violins, cellos that have pickups. They also work just as well on instruments that don’t require an active DI, like keyboards.

After purchasing a couple of noisy, low-quality DI boxes from Pyle, I decided that I was working against myself. I purchased this DI box from Radial and I am blown away by the sound quality and solid construction. It really is a night and day difference between this and the cheaper options. Buy it!

The device is what it says that it is. It functions as described and as needed. There isn't much complexity in its application. A simple device that serves its purpose. The device is rugged, dependable and doesn't add a significant amount of noise. What more would you want?

Exactly as Radial describes, the guts of a J48 without all the bells and whistles. Means great durability and sound quality for an even better price. These are now my go-to DI for stage applications. The pad makes it workable with active preamps and line level instruments so there is no active/passive question to worry about. To the 1&2star reviews. Active DI’s require phantom and these do not take batteries. That could make it appear to be DOA if you don’t know what you’re doing. Phantom also spotlights crappy cables. You’ll get crackling and popping with an intermittent phantom power connection. I use these with good quality connectors and I seriously doubt one would make it out of the factory with a bum XLR jack causing a loose connection. The description of the problem sounds like you’re using a cheap and/or abused cable that needs replacing.

Purchased the Pro48 to connect my passive-pickup Fender bass to the mixing board. Noiseless signal delivery. Uses phantom power from the mixer. My third Radial DI product, all giving outstanding performance, rugged build, and a reasonable price. Buy Canadian!

One of the standard pieces of audio gear every engineer should own. I do not personally use this in the studio (don't have any reason to) but live this unit sounds great for DI from an acoustic guitar or other low-output instrument. I wouldn't use this for an active instrument like keyboards or line-out on a bass amp, I would use the Radial Passive DI box for that.Radial DI boxes are great, really good quality and built like tanks. I do not worry about them breaking while on the road. They also sound good enough to be used in a studio with some good pres.
