I love this device that lets me accurately measure the temperature of anything very easy to use

I bought this first for a raku kiln then later purchased a ktype pyrometer. I found that THIS infrared thermometer was within a couple of degrees as the $200 pyrometer. If I knew how accurate it was compared to some I used in the past, I would have saved myself some money honestly. I know one reads atmosphere while this reads heat emitted, but it is SO accurate and easy to use. Highly recommended 👌

good device, but really difficult to use when you are close to the subject you want to measure because the beam must focus pretty far away to get accurate readings. for example, if you are welding or heating up some metal and you want to take a measurement, you have to get up and stand back to get enough distance to take a measurement, so it's pretty inconvenient for that sort of thing.

This is a decent product with some good features. It appears to be fairly accurate and the laser definitely helps to determine exactly what you are measuring. I'm using it to measure the temperature in a melting furnace and it had no trouble reading the high temperatures (1200c). The longer you hold it in place, you will see the reading shift significantly, but I discovered that a quick reading is more accurate than letting it linger in place.

Works well and great price.Other cheaper thermometers dont give a reading above a certain temp, they just say HI. This goes very high, I got 2000 F readings. +

I opened the box and inserted the battery. Immediately, I noticed that the buttons were not functioning properly, with some not working at all.I couldn't get the backlight to turn on; that button is completely dead. The laser button would work sometimes, but it required multiple presses to respond. However, my biggest concern was when I measured the temperature of the wall in my office, which should be 20.5 degrees Celsius, and it registered at 37 degrees Celsius. When I took the temperature of the back of my arm, it displayed an alarming 48 degrees Celsius.I will be returning this product immediately.

Works exactly as described; using with a small foundry and molten metals.

Works well. The only thing I can find against it is if you check something very hot it takes a little time to read lower temperatures accurately. But it will read right.

Update: Do NOT buy this if you want to measure high temperatures. It does NOT measure the full stated range. (I tried two of them and neither would measure over about 2300 - 2400F (actual temp. Unit readout will show roughly 2450F before returning an error, which is way over even the "optimistic" margin of error. My platinum thermocouple was showing 2315F when this showed an error code indicating a reading too high. And yes, I had the emission value set correctly.)Aside from the fact that the high temperature (2000F+) readings fluctuate considerably, it seems to generally work okay at temperatures below 2000F (maybe), but is annoying to use. Or it at least displays numbers, unlike at temps above 2300F. Multi-use buttons are a raging pain and the screen is basically unreadable without the backlight unless your lighting is perfect. As an FYI, if you happen to have the mode in "REC" (which doesn't function on this particular model) the backlight will NOT turn on, making it very easy to accidentally screw things up while trying to change modes to activate the light. My unit keeps giving a "LO" alarm when measuring temperatures above roughly 2300F, in spite of the fact that I have the low alarm temp set to 0F and the high alarm set at maximum (2732F). (I'm trying to measure my glassmaking furnace temperature.) At lower temperatures it seems to work okay, but accuracy is still suspect. I bought two of these and they measure quite a bit differently even when set up exactly the same). Why it says "LO" at high temps is puzzling. The user manual is absolutely no help. Maybe my unit is defective? (Update: I bought a second one to test against the first when it failed to work correctly. The second one is even worse and has now been returned.) Unfortunately, I waited too long to return the first one, as my glass furnace was turned off for the summer and I didn't use the pyrometer at high temps until I turned the furnace back on recently.Unsurprisingly, the user manual (4 small pages in English) is the standard Chinese trash. In other words, it is basically useless. Very light on user info. If I were to do things over, I would definitely NOT buy one of these. If you are smart you will opt for a higher quality pyrometer that isn't low budget, generic Chinese garbage. If anything changes as I use the unit more, I will revise this review. But I'm not optimistic. By the way, did I mention how much I HATE the multi-function buttons? [Update: It is even worse than my original review indicated. An absolute waste of money! I have returned the second one I bought. The first one, which is past the return date, will likely just go into the trash. A $70 lesson learned.]Edit: Regarding that last paragraph prior to the updated part, now that I have more experience with it, I have revised my two star rating downward to a single star. Since both the first and second units I bought constantly return a "LO" error when trying to read my glass furnace temperature, they are basically useless to me. Nor do I trust the readings at lower temperatures that don't cause the error. Repeatability seems pretty questionable and my two units do NOT come close to matching each other when reading the temperature of the same object. I doubt that either one of them is accurate. I also STRONGLY suspect that these are lower temperature units intentionally mislabeled by an unscrupulous seller.

Very good thermometer. Looks and feels very solid and professional. I tested it so far on low temperatures only and it works great. Quite accurate even measuring humans temperature. Repetitive measurements give very close readings. Responsive. Light weighted. Very good, handy and ergonomic rubberized grip. Auto switches off very fast, in about 2 sec. Comes with a fastening carabiner in the handle and a pouch. So, overall very satisfied with this product.

I like the product overall, like the feel of it, its easy to use. I'm mostly using it for my forging, where temperatures reaches 2000f, my only negative at this point is the battery insertion, its very difficult to screw the door battery in, I can't give a a really accurate review of this product as I only used it for 2 weeks, ask me in a year. Other than that I do like it. I do not know how accurate this pyrometer is, further testing is needed. Im happy with this purchase, it comes with the case, small screw driver and a nine volt battery. I took some temperature readings of the inside of the fridge and freezer, its within 2 degrees accuracy.
