Not what I expected. I read the ad before buying and in no place there was a description of the insert plate material. Took it for granted as being aluminum but when product arrived it was some sort of synthetic material. If there is some aluminum on it’s most likely a thin layer sandwiched within the synthetic material. Can’t trust it so I will have to replace it a by a better quality insert.

The etched center marks are on the bottom or underside of the plate. If you don’t care about those center marks to align a fence, I guess it would work. It’s heavy and solid cast aluminum but the underside, where the center marks are, is horrible with circular marks marring the whole surface. I will be returning it and buying a better quality plate.
