Like many, I've recently swapped my traditional hifi set up for the convenience with a soundbar. Unfortunately, my new soundbar has no RCA or 3.5mm input, just an optical in, hence the need to purchase this adapter.Firstly, to get the most out of this, you really do need to buy some separate adapters. For example, my record player has male RCA leads so needed a male-to-male adapter, and my echo dot and cassette player has a 3.5mm output so another adapter was needed for that. It's a shame they are not included in the box - I'd happy have paid a bit more to save the hassle.Upon connecting everything up, I was pleased that it worked perfectly first time. I'm no audiophile but sound quality seemed about the same as before, albeit with a slight kiss during breaks in the music. The leads and connectors seem good quality. If it wasn't clear from the description, you do need to plug the adapter into a USB power source. Luckily my sound bar has a powered USB port. The only niggle I have with this is that there doesn't seem to be any power saving or auto-off. Therefore, my soundbar never goes into standby whilst this is plugged in so I'm in theory wasting 140W in power even though its not in use. The work around is to change sources or unplug the adapter from the optical socket.Apart from a few minor niggles, the adapter is perfectly good and east to use.

I had really high hopes for this product but it didn't work out for me. But for some more common applications I'm sure it's fine. I use the headphone output of my TV to drive an amplifier and a pair of speakers, which double as a music system the rest of the time. The issue was ground loop hum and buzz which I can't seem to get rid of. So my thinking was to power this from the USB port on the TV and use the optical path to get total ground isolation. The issue was that the converter suffered from buzz and hum from either the USB power or from an external supply. The TV is quiet through headphones, but is extremely unfriendly to driving anything electronic. This is not an issue that will affect most people though.Aside from that I don't like that the input and output cables are captive, especially the optical cable. It makes it difficult if they aren't long enough. There are couplers for the optical but they tend to be lossy and can cause issues. But for may applications this is probably a great solution.

The PROZOR Analog to Digital Audio Converter Cable, RCA to Optical converter cable powered by a USB A Cable, works as intended and met my expectations for transferring sound from the analog RCA output of a mixer board and processing the sound into a digital signal then into a stereo receiver amplifier that previously only produced sound in the right channel due to a short circuit. I am now able to enjoy my Sony Surround Sound stereo receiver’s fullness and depth thanks to this simple little device. When this PROZOR cable is plugged in then the Sony receiver amplifier’s power is turned on, LINEAR PCM [48kHz] is automatically shown on the digital display panel. The optical plug fits firmly into the designated channel’s jack and stays put there, unlike many other optical cables I own that slip out. This is a really excellent quality cable that greatly improved the performance of my home audio system.

I'm converting my stereo system over to optical since I have some longer runs from my components to the amplifier. I was getting buzzes and noise with long runs of rca cables. This Prozor rca to spdif adapter (light fiber) adapter fills a need.Included is a usb-c to usb-a power cable. Its not very long, but long enough. Not included is an AC to usb adapter - you supply that.Note that this is analog to digital, not digital to analog. Ie older tape player to digital input of an amplifier. The case is plastic and as long as it's not banged around should last. There is no ground lug, being a plastic device.. also the sampling rate is only 48K, not adjustable.Works for me.

Going from an analog motherboard sound card to an optical receiver made a big difference in sound. The only thing I would change is the longer cords.

I have a projector with only a 3.5mm audio out. So, using this optical audio converter I can utilize the optical (SPDIF) input on my Yamaha surround sound receiver. WORKS AS DESCRIBED!!!

Works with CD quality sound output, but didn't use because it had a separate usb wire for power source. I wanted to minimize extra wiring and found a usb to spdif cable that sounded the same with 2 connections not 3 like this one. But this is perfect for someone that has, or planning to add a sound card that doesn't have a spdif output

I ordered this to add a 3.5mm analogue input to my RME ADI-2 (via its SPDIF optical input). While I normally use the USB interface, I have reason to use another source for casual listening while remote working, which I typically do on connected HS8 monitors. As such, perfect output was not crucial; but as an (unreasonable) test I plugged in my HD800S headphones for a quick listen, using my phone and a few different USB-C DAC dongles as a source. I've previously tested these and found them to produce respectable noise-free output.I'm delighted to say this converter does fine in this scenario. There is no appreciable degradation of the output quality from the dongles I tried via the PROZOR versus, a direct dongle-to-amplifier connection. You're not going to be putting such a cheap device in a high fidelity setup for critical listening, so 'fine' is more than adequate in this case. The 48Khz limitation is not an issue; higher sampling rates are superfluous in this scenario. It's compact and light. The case is plastic; but fairly neatly finished. You won't be impressed by the build, but probably not disappointed either. I've certainly seen and reviewed far worse.I'm not keen on the captive optical and analogue cables though. They're of reasonable quality and have good strain relief, so unlikely to be a problem; but I'd have preferred socketed replaceable cables. Again, at this price I can see the reasoning for that choice though. The USB-C cable for power is the only one that is not captive, which is good; because the supplied one was too short for my setup.I would say there are comparable converters for the same money or less on Amazon; but when you're in the £10-20 bracket they're all going to have similar internals.I really can't find fault in this so it gets five stars; but it doesn't get a particularly strong recommendation either.

Set up to feed audio from an iPhone 6s to a Cambridge Audio Soundbase this device worked well and passed the audio flawlessly from the iPhone 3.5mm headphone socket audio to the optical input of the Cambridge audio soundbase.Full range sound, no background noise or hum and faithful reproduction of music and speech.A good converter of analog to digital sound.
