I purchased this with the goal of obtaining high quality audio transmission from my LG smart tvto my tower speakers for movie viewing audio. Unfortunately, this device did not transmit as expected. I called the customer service technical support crew at Vizio Soundbar. After they reviewed my connection setup via phone call and live video, the technician informed me that these optical to RCA connection converters typically do not function properly. They recommended that I use a direct optical to optical connection. So, I will attempt to do that next.

I just purchased a new LG 27" TV to replace our ancient Samsung 24" that we have had for many years in our kitchen, but unfortunately the new TV only has an optical output for audio and the Bose Companion speakers we have been using for the Samsung only has RCA jacks and cable to connect to a TV. The Optical to RCA Converter worked beautifully, as after connecting all per instructions, the sound from the Bose Companion speakers was wonderful compared to the tinny sound coming from the new TV with its cheap tiny speakers. One item to note that I was not aware of when I purchased the converter is that it requires a 5 volt 1 amp power source via the supplied USB cable. Fortunately, I was able to just use a spare Apple cube charger, which incidentally has a 5 volt 1 amp output. Should you not have one, you may wish to purchase, as the converter will not work without a power source. Other than that, it was plug and play. It also appears that the converter is of very good quality and not a cheap throwaway. I highly recommend it if you should be in a situation such as mine.

I wanted to use this cable to connect my new SamsungTV to my Bose speakers. These speakers are older but excellent speakers. They worked with my old TV. They only have RCA connections. Everything physically connected just fine, but then, no matter what I tried, I could never get the sound to come from the speakers. I was sorely dissapointed.

works like a charm right out of the box, plugged it in to digital output on the ( modern tv ) into the converter ( no need for the power source ) plugged in the ( rca plugs ) into our tuner/amp ) set up, no need to replace our tried and tested ( multi room speaker system ) or buy and install the whole system just to get the sound from the new system to the old, great patch through

To improve sound quality of wall fixed TV, as usual TVs have small speakers and amps.I wanted a better, clearer, sound, perhaps I'm going deaf but don't want to admit it.Anyway old 15 yr old tv sounds much better now.

Convierte el sonido digital en analรณgico tal como esperaba. Lo estoy usando con un sintonizador TDT que tiene salida coaxial para el audio incluso con un cable RCA de audio normal (no coaxial) sin problemas (hasta ahora tenรญa que escuchar el audio a travรฉs de la conversiรณn de la propia tele, que es bueno, pero querรญa eliminar este paso intermedio para evitar tenerla encendida innecesariamente cuando solo escucho mรบsica). No puedo opinar sobre la entrada SPDIF con el cable suministrado porque no tengo ningรบn equipo que incorpore esta salida, pero supongo que se escucharรก igualmente bien. La รบnica posible pega si acaso serรญa el volumen de salida un poco bajo tanto conectando directamente los auriculares a la toma mini-jack incorporada como por el amplificador por la salida RCA al no incorporar un regulador de volumen (que podrรญa degradar el sonido), pero no puedo confirmarlo porque podrรญa deberse al volumen de salida del sintonizador TDT mencionado y no tengo otra fuente para comprobarlo. En resumen, completamente satisfecho hasta el momento.
