I had two of these fail after a couple weeks each (the second was a replacement of the first). Upon failure they stop sending audio through the optical port. No way of fixing it.

Exactly what I was looking for, I have a soundbar that I need to hook up to an older TV temporarily. The older TV has no optical connection. Bought this and it worked instantly, no set-up needed, just plug it in and go. It comes with an optical cable, but not any analog cables. Luckily I had some lying around. Sound quality is good, price is good, no issues at all. Would be nice if it came with analog cables also, just be sure to buy those separately if you don’t have any.

I have a Bluetooth enabled Audio Technica turntable but it would not connect to my home theater/soundbar via Bluetooth. I could connect my turntable to a different Bluetooth speaker but not my soundbar. So I got this device and connected it to my soundbar using an optical cable and it worked! Honestly it sounds a lot better too vs connecting via Bluetooth.

I've been using this ADC to convert a collection of '70s and '80s vinyl records to digital (AAC) files so I can listen to them on my computer, iPhone, iPad, etc. My turntable has a built-in phono pre-amp, so I just needed this to convert the turntable's two-channel RCA plug output to an SPDIF optical signal. I'm also using another adapter I got from Amazon that then converts the ADC's optical output to a USB A port on my laptop (via an optical cable, of course). It's been a very reliable combination, as I've gotten through more than 60 albums so far.The sound quality of this ADC is quite good, and is more than capable of faithfully reproducing the best recordings I have. I'm also using a software application I got online that allows me to set track boundaries, adjust the levels, and so on.The only feature I wish this converter had is a level control. Some vinyl recordings are pretty low in volume, so it would be nice to have a way to increase (or decrease) them. The software app is letting me do this, but I think it would be nicer to do it right up front. The other thing on my wish list is for the use of a smaller, less intense LED for the power light. When the room is dark, this LED is pretty bright, and can be a bit annoying if you're trying to sleep nearby. As others have noted, the included power adapter (thanks for this) and optical cable are pretty short, so they may take some configuration changes in one's setup to deal with this. I'm using a longer optical cable I already had, for instance, which solved the short power cable issue. All in all, this little box has been a great performer. The sound quality is excellent, it's proven to be very dependable, and you can't beat the price. I'm very happy with it.

Needed an analog to digital converter for my Sony HT-SF200 2.1 Soundbar (Discontinued but found open box return at BB store) since my PC did not have a Digital audio out. Connected the Amazon Basics 3.5mm Aux to 2 RCA Adapter Audio Cable (Purchased separately on Amazon) to the audio out port on the PC IO shield and then the converter and finally connected the Toslink cable (Came with the device) to the digital TOS link port on the soundbar and chose Realtek audio in the sound settings to play the 2.1 soundbar under my monitor. Soundbar has Bluetooth but is very laggy. It's important to know if you are going from analog to digital or digital to analog- those are two separate devices. If you are connecting a PC through the 3.5mm audio jack you are going analog to digital on the soundbar. This is the solution if you want good sound and save desk space as the small Sony soundbar fits right under the monitor. Amazon has the Sony S100F 2.0ch Soundbar that also works in this config but the 200 is a little more bass and fills up the room more, but for a PC near field speaker the Sf100 would be fine as well for a bedroom sound for a tv.

There is no branding on the product, as shown in the image. No optical cable was included in the package. Finally it stopped working within 2 weeks. I think Amazon should blacklist such products. I regret buying it.

I purchased this for obvious intended purpose. I have a Bose 300 soundtouch that supports optical input. I have tried to send RCA from master line out of a Pioneer DJM mixer with no result. To troubleshoot, I used optical out from my cable receiver straight to the soundbar. Got clear sound. I then used the RCA out of the cable receiver to this converter and optical out of the converter to the soundbar. No audio. I switched the RCA cables to ensure that was not the problem. No audio. I have tried all settings on my devices...No audio. So, given that the 2 sources I have tried and the speaker and cables/connections are all good, it leaves to reason that this converter as not operating properly.I would love to try another, but I am not going to repurchase this product. If the seller on here would like to send me a replacement, I will happily try it and update this review.*** UPDATE ***After writing the above review, the seller responded and sent a replacement unit free of charge. The replacement works as advertised and I have upgraded my review from 1 star to 4 stars. The unit works as described and would have given 5 stars had the initial unit worked. Thank you to the seller for being responsive and providing a replacement. As long as you are not in a time crunch and the seller remains responsive, this is not a bad buy. Thank you!
