I think most people bought this for bartending. But I bought it to crush ice for ice bags after surgery. The surgery was out of town , so I didn’t have the luxury of ice packs for my freezer. I could crush the ice small enough that it didn’t hurt my back.Great product

I have tried all types of containers and bags to put my ice in, to keep it in the freezer. These bags are great for ice storage. just don't get the bag wet or it will get really hard and hard to use after that. Plus they can be washed if they get dirty.

The mallet and bag are both very well constructed. This product meets all expectations!

Comes with two (2) bags and a mallet. I just tried it out and got several glasses of crushed ice in mere seconds. Has a hanging loop for drying and/or storage. Bags are a thick canvas and both seem well made. If I have any issues I will update. Note - it looks like it has spots on it in the pics. Those aren't spots, they are shadows cast on it from where I placed it.

I love to crush up crystal-clear store-bought ice for my drinks, and for me, this is the best way to do it. It’s simple and effective, which is probably why Lewis bags like this have been in use since the 1940s. This one’s made of sturdy canvas fabric and works great for me.You get two sturdy bags measuring roughly 13” deep (not including the flap cover) by just under 9” wide. There’s a little loop on one corner of the bottom, apparently so you can hang it to dry. Both bags are identical. The mallet is made of nice beech wood and finished fairly well. There is no coating on it like polyurethane or anything, but it’s sanded pretty well. The head stays on because the handle is tapered at the end, which is great. I like simple designs that just work. This mallet should also work well for stone crabs, lobsters, etc., although I probably wouldn’t use the bag for that.I searched high and low and couldn’t find a better price for two bags and a mallet of this quality. Definitely a good deal.Hope this helps.

This "system" just works. I saw someone complain they couldn't get the ice crushed. I get snow cone consistency easily. The mallet is just great. I shift the contents around a bit, and feel for any pieces that need "attention" but I don't have any problems. Learned early on to use plastic utensils which I put in the freezer first. Metal simply doesn't work. Also doesn't work to make too large a batch at once. You can always make another. After transferring the ice into a baggie for the freezer, just shake the bag out in the sink and hang it by the handy loop to air dry. Takes only an hour or so. And it even takes care of your built up angst! Also need to have a HARD surface on which to hammer. I happen to have a left over piece of my counter top (what was cut out for the sink) which I use to save my real counter top. Wood or plastic cutting boards I don't think will work as well, but I honestly haven't tried them out. Good product, recommended.

I could not be more happy with this purchase. Exactly as described, even better than expected. I haven't used it yet so I can't speak on longevity but it is more thick and sturdy material than I ever expected. Has a hook to hang dry the bag. !The mallet feels like good quality made from solid beechwood I believe. The cotton is so thick i would guess they last for a long time but if not it comes with a replacement. No more reusable plastic bags which I have to throw away often. My only complaint would be the new smell when you first get it but I hand washed mine to get it out. I believe you can wash it in dishwasher or washing machine as well. I am extremely happy with this product!
