The ice picks seem to be well made and has a metal cap to allow using a wood mallet. The picture on the order site is demonstrating the absolute wrong way to use an ice pick. Jabbing ice in your hand is a recipe for disaster.

These do just what they are supposed to do. I got tired of ruining my silverware trying to chop the ice in the freezer. I think I only needed ONE, but because Amazon's price was hard to beat, I thought I could give the others away as gifts. Next time, I'll need to think it through first...I mean, who gives ice picks as gifts?:-)

I wanted these to break up ice in a commercial ice-maker bin….and consider the sharp point to be too aggressive for safe-use by ordinary house guests. I deliberately “dulled” the point with my bench-grinder, and consider that a good solution.

This is a quality ice pick. The 3-pack makes it a great value. The wooden handle rests firmly in the hand. When using this ice pick I have control of the device. Even with wet hands, I can securely use it.

I should have paid more money to get better quality ice pick. Used the ice pick, but handle is not that sturdy! I wish the handle was rubber so I can get a better grip.
