I've been using this for four months now, and it is an excellent shoulder plate. The problem with most "shoulder rig plates", even ones sold by some popular names, is that they shift the point of weight forward, in front of your shoulders instead of on your shoulders. This over even an hour or two, can fatigue your hands and cause discomfort. Even more so for longer days. This VCT base plate rests directly on your shoulder, not forward, not backwards, on your shoulder. This shifts the weight of the camera rig on your shoulder, not making it forward-heavy. This relieves your hands of the pressure and weight and also allows you to be smoother with movements. The quality on this Proaim shoulder plate is very, very good given what it is being sold for. Easy recommendation, this one.

I needed a plate so I could build a B camera out to accept VCT-14 plates. I also needed it to accept 15mm rails so I could mount a V-mount battery plate adapter to it. This one did come with some long 15mm rails, but I used some shorter 4" rails as I didn't need any that long on this set up. On one of my cameras I have a Zacuto but I didn't want to spend so much on this camera rig. This seemed like a similar set up to the Zacuto. This one didn't have a lot of reviews and so I thought I'd try it out. It came together nicely. NOTE: The photo shows it with the 4" rods I added separately. It came with 2 - 12" and 2 - 8" rods.
