Use this Prime-Line F 2642 Tilt Window Latch Replacement to replace old or broken window tilt latches to maintain safety and security in your home. These spring-loaded tilt window parts feature a unique wrap-around design that attaches to the top rail and side stile. Each package includes one right-hand and one left-hand tilt latch with fasteners. Installation is quick and easy. The tilt latch pair can be used on aluminum single- and double-hung vertical sliding sash panels that are designed to tilt in and down from the top, for cleaning purposes. Constructed of plastic and white in color, this spring-loaded tilt latch replacement is strong, durable, and made to last. This vinyl window tilt latch is 2-1/4 inch wide x 3/4 inch deep with a 1-11/16 inch top mounting hole center. For further dimensional information, please see the line drawing.

These spring-loaded tilt latches are constructed of plastic and they are white in color. The overall housing width of these latches measures 2-1/4 in., the depth is 3/4 in. and the top mounting hole is spaced at 1-11/16 in. from stile edge to center of hole. These tilt latches are used on aluminum, single and double hung vertical sliding sash panels that are designed to tilt-in and down from the top for cleaning purposes. They are used on all tilt-in windows manufactured by Better Built, and they feature a unique wrap-around design that attaches to the top rail and side stile. Each package includes one right hand & one left hand tilt latch with fasteners.

Easy process:Unlock and raise the window 2-3 inches.Unlatch the existing tilting latches and swing the top of the window in toward the room. Having a helper hold the window is easier.Remove the top and side screws.Install the new (modified) latches.NOTE: Make sure the flat side of the catch faces the room while the angled side faces outside.Pull the handles on the latches and put the window back into the channel. Not pulling the latch levers may result in the latch hitting the wall/frame.These work great with a couple of best practices.1. Had to modify the side to remove the tab. Carefully use a box cutter or similar tool. See pictures.2. For my windows, the provided screw was great for the top location. For the side screw, I reused the existing one.

Worked seemingly well but recently one came off and the other one was found to be broken. Not sure what happened. So 3 stars for the 4 months I got from the things.

Our windows are old, but in very good shape and functional. Over the years the original plastic pieces broke on many of the windows. These replacements were perfect. They were easy to install and work perfectly.

These were a nearly perfect replacement for my approximately 35 yr old windows. Going to order another pack or two just in case more latches begin to break.WARNING: Your windows are likely spring loaded ! Keep continuous firm control of the opened window as not to permit it to fling and spring unexpectedly. You will figure it out.HINTS: Although as good as I could have expected, you may encounter slight issues with aligning up.CLEAN YOUR DARN WINDOWS ! Take a screwdriver , can of window cleaner, some quality paper towels and some spray silicone lube. Simply clean out that ENTIRE window frame. Every track, every part , soak it down and wipe it out ! Now is also a great time to clean that glass with an ammonia free cleaner on the outside side too. Then, give that track, spring, and aluminum window edge a squirt of silicone too. Screw on your new retainers, and you are good to go!

I thought it would be impossible to find the right part for my old windows. Fit perfect and now I can open my windows without them tilting back. Bought 4 more just in case another breaks
