Since the head of a binding post sits nearly flush against the surface, they can be used in applications where there may not be room for a protruding screw tip and hex nut. They can also be used as a substitute for rivets in some cases.

Era para un tipo de ventanas antiguas de los años 50. Y me resultaron muy útiles.

Like the headline says the other parts head (female half) is not sealed off, to some that's probably no big deal, for me it should be able to work. These were used on a boat for patching/placing new aluminum where a few holes were (with the help of 3m 5200). Haven't had a chance to try it out but so far with water in the boat it doesn't leak anymore.

These posts broke as soon as we started to screw them into the finished material. Very weak material.

The diameter of the female half is 0.200 (5mm), not 3/16" as advertised. Not a good fit if one is limited to fractional Imperial drill bits.
