This works great for grabbing and holding small things. The insulated grips seem to do the job.If you do any small work (arduino kind of stuff) these are very handy. As for medical use, I have not tried them for that. If the teeth on the jaws appear to align and the arms seem to be flexible enough for the locking mechanism to apply adequate force. For the price these seem fine and, as I said, if you do small work they will find a happy home in your toolkit.If you need something that is absolutely non ferrous, look elsewhere, but that is probably a special case.They are sold & labelled as Stainless Steel and are probably made of a cheaper variant of stainless steel. A magnet will indeed grab these, but that seems to be more dependent on the makeup of the material.
