I tried this on 29 gauge mild steel and it had a hard time cutting it. The cutting wheel would slip a lot, and the cuts that it made left lots of jagged nicks in the metal. Metal sheers seem to do a better job… I wanted to try this design, but the setup seems flawed from my experience.

It’s not a good tool, I could not cut what I bought it for. Waste of money

This falls into the "might be better than nothing" category of tools, in that if you REALLY need to cut some sheet metal and don't have access to a nibbler (or manual metal snips), you can manage to get it to work well enough. BUT... I wouldn't say I feel comfortable using it on something I really care about (ie, I managed to make a straight cut or two, but I also managed to really chew up some metal at times). Perhaps I wasn't using it right, but it never seemed to really feel solidly attached to any of my drills (Porter Cable, Ryobi and Dewalt), and I was just waiting for it to slip and/or grind to a halt. Good idea, but not quite there.

This is an OK tool for odd jobs where it isn’t worth it to have the full blown tool. It’s just too fiddly having the bit driver and the cutter as separate units. It isn’t all bad though because that guide bar helps. Still. Awfully fiddly. I did not enjoy using it. In contrast, I don’t like using hand shears either.I used this thing on one project so far that required maybe 8 ft of cutting. This was a time saver and it did make decent cuts. It was awkward though because, for me, this tool required 1.2 hands. Shears only require one hand and the other is free to wrangle stuff. On the bright side – I got through all the cuts without bleeding. With shears, I often find a way to bleed.

Great concept but the execution with the instructions was severely lacking..... the pictures also are confusing.... haven't gotten it together enough to feel comfortable testing them out without removing a finger.....

I agree with Bob.This could be useful if you have a drill it will fit and you master the gibberish instructions. I have 3 different DeWALT drills. It almost fits one of them if you do a bit of experimentation, conquer the spring, and forget the collar that is supposed to be fastened to the drill. My first victim was a sheet of 1/16" (1.58mm) 6061 aluminum At first it just sat there with the drive gear grinding a notch in the edge of the sheet. Then I gave it a significant push and it grabbed hold and took off in a direction I was not expecting. Half way through I slacked off the push and it stopped and started to chew another notch. Glad I had ordered a second sheet of aluminum.I chuckle at Bob saying it could be a cool tool. I name my tools and I already have a cool tool. I'll call this one the mangler.Pros:Cuts fast.Cons:Cuts too fast.Difficult to impossible to steer.Doesn't fit (my) drillsNeeds a push.Worthless instructions.

Good Idea, Not Yet Ready for Prime Time Listing. Innovative concept – perhaps a ‘better mousetrap’ so to speak. But the current version (Nov 24) lacks coherent or understandable Instructions (see pix). For example: who can follow this part of the ‘Product Overview’: “… use the electric drill power to drive the circular gear cutter to cut the metal sheet, the outer edge of the circular gear cutter disc and the inner edge of the vice-circular disc to form the cutter cut to realize the cutting of the iron sheet….” What metal worker or DYI handyman or woman talks like that? To make matters worse, the terms used are not defined or commonly used, and the illustrations in the Instructions are not marked and that show some parts like the support bracket that are for a different model or design. If you get past the setup issues, then this can be a really ‘cool’ tool. It cuts straight lines with little effort and leaves a clean line (see pix). But be sure to wear gloves, clearly mark your cut lines (cuts happen fast), and hold down the work piece or have an assistant since you need both hands to operate this tool – one on the tool and one on the drill. If you are really handy with tools or jigsaw puzzles then this item could be a great addition to your tools. If not, then you may want to wait on Version 2.0, at least Version 2.0 of the Instructions. As such I only rate this tool as 3*.

This attachment for your drill motor converts your drill motor into a power sheet metal sheer. It cuts smoothly and is easy to install and set up. The cuts are good with very little burr. For very soft material (i.e. dead soft copper) they do leave a small knurl on one edge where the drive teeth engage the material but this is a minor thing in my application.
