This is a useful tool. It is easy to clean, but you must be careful. None of the parts are rounded. All of the edges, including the handle, are sharp and can cut. The tool has a moderate amount of weight. My son was able to use it as his hands are stronger than mine. It is easier than mashing with a fork or masher, but not as easy as some of the other tools I have had.

First thing that comes to mind about this solidly built ricer is the size; I've been able to use it on some very large sweet potatoes when making gnocchi and it mashes even those stubborn tubers with ease. Thus far I've used it to make mashed potatoes and gnocchi of both normal and sweet potato varieties and had a very easy time in both situations. The steel construction has made it very easy to clean up as well, the swappable/removeable plates make things even easier.

Okay, I make gnocchi a lot and this tool is awesome! I used the smallest one & it squeezed the potato thru the grater so when it came out it was nice and fluffy and my gnocchi airier. Then I tried the mid one for squeezing out spinach for spinach soufflé and THAT worked out pretty well too. A couple more steps then putting it through a strainer, but it came out drier for a better dish. Haven’t used the biggest one for mashed potatoes yet, but the entire contraption was easy to use and easy to clean. It’s a keeper.

This is a pretty nice ricer. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. I like that the holes are changeable depending what I'm doing. I got this to replace my previous ricer whose holes go all the way up the sides of the cup - that always made for a mess. What I don't like are the silicone or rubbery grips on them. Nothing inherently wrong with them, but I don't like grips on things that get cleaned since they can harbor moisture, bacteria and food particles. I will likely cut them off so it's just bare metal.I didn't deduct stars for the grips- that's just my preference. The ricer as a whole is sturdy and will do just fine next time I make mash or spaetzle - with or without the grips.

This was my first experience actually using a ricer, and I was pleased with the result. I'd read you didn't need to peel the cooked potatoes but this turned out not to be true, since the peels clogged the holes immediately. However, the ricer produced beautiful, smooth mashed potatoes without a whole lot of effort on my part. The reason for four stars instead of five is that several of the metal edges are pretty sharp, making the ricer feel cheap and I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up. I did stick it in the dishwasher and so far, no rust, but it's early days.

The potato ricer comes with three different sizes so you can choose whether to have bigger results or nice, soft fine results. I tried all three, and I prefer the screen with the middle-sized holes. I boiled my russet potatoes and was able to fit most of them whole inside the ricer. I have small hands, so I did struggle at first to grip onto the handles. I ended up cutting the potatoes in half and it worked out better for me. The handles are comfortable and the press is smooth. Cleanup was about what you expect. It’s best to rinse shortly after use so the potatoes don’t dry on the ricer. It’s easier to rinse the holes than have to poke a toothpick through becuase you let the screen sit with potatoes left on it. Just my opinion, though.

It does it's job, but it's definitely suffers from it's mass production. Having the option for different plates is nice, but I always feel like it's about to bend when I use it, and that's with potatoes that are soft enough to smash with a fork. The plates also fit very loosely so when you do use it you have to peel the plate off the face and put it back in every time you run a few potatoes through it so this is definitely not a time saver.

I was very excited about this. However, it was broken upon arrival. There was insufficient solder to secure the flat piece. Looks nice though.
