Your cart is empty.The CASR101 is a cassette player/recorder designed in a "shoebox" style. It comes equipped with a top-loading cassette deck that can both play and record. The unit also features a retractable carrying handle for easy portability. The buttons are user-friendly, including a one-touch record button and automatic voice level control. You have the option to record using the built-in microphone or the external microphone that comes with a desk stand. The CASR101 also has a headphone jack for private listening and an auxiliary line-in jack for attaching other players. The unit can operate on either four "C" size batteries (not included) or with the included AC adaptor.

The device is sturdy and easy to use. However, it is a piece of junk. The built in speaker sounds like it is already blown. The mic included records audio, its just the worst possible audio you can possibly imagine. That isn't even the worst. The line in audio is inaudible. When recording you can't hear the audio that you're trying to record. And then when you play back the audio you recorded it is surprisingly inaudible. It sounds like you recorded on to a piece of sandpaper and the tried to play it on a broken record player. I bought this to make some nostalgic mix tapes. Now I just have a useless paper weight. I would return it but I'm afraid they would resell it. So if I keep it, that's one less person to be disappointed by this absolute junk.

For an antiquated piece of tech, this isn’t terrible for the price. However. The power supply for the cassette player has no decoupling, it is EXTREMELY noisy. The autostop works 25% of the time, and the recording characteristics are terrible. If you want to make lo-fi tracks this is perfect, but if you wanted to burn your favorite album to a cassette, or make a mixtape, go for something else

The product works great as expected but when it's connected via AC adapter and also connected to my PC via 3.5mm from the headphone port to my PC's mic port I get a horrible buzzing sound that makes the device unusable. A solution was using a ground loop isolator and that completely fixed the issue and it's perfectly silent when I need it to be. It's just a shame because the last one I had that I replaced this one with didn't need this additional hardware.

This sound quality is good if you tape from a live voice. When taping my home based phone recorder saved messages, the quality was not good at all. I had saved some messages from dear persons who have since died, so very important. But, alas, not good recordings.

This cassette player was purchased to take minutes at meetings by older people who are not strong tech people. It is perfect.
