It's a snug fit with the weather stripping on the tailgate but it locks and functions as it should. Took 2 minutes so hopefully my tailgate stay on

No one has tried to steal my tailgate, but this is a great precaution. I’ve tried to remove the tailgate with this in and it was very secure. Anything with a lock and key can be picked but this would delay a thief for a bit.

Took a couple minutes to install. The price and peace of mind are well worth it. I'd suggest some sort of remote lock for the tailgate too, just as a failsafe in case someone forgets to lock the tailgate one day.

Thieves kept breaking into my truck bed by removing the tailgate and breaking cap door. This makes the tailgate un-removable without the key. Would work good on new truck with expensive tailgate too. Don't want that taken .

Had my tailgate stolen off my 2015 tacoma last week. Found one at junkyard but it's money I wouldn't have spent if I'd have gotten this sooner 😅. Save yourself some trouble and a lot of money by buying this guy! My friend had one installed and someone tried to steal his tailgate last week as well, they couldn't take it. That's how I found this product. The lock quality is good, it doesn't get in the way or affect the functionality of my bed or tailgate. Was super fast and easy to install. It's made of plastic so this is more to deter a would be thief of opportunity than someone who is dead set on taking your stuff.

First called for a refund,one picture has the hasp evenly round,ours appeared bent ,lopsided.The hey wouldn't open the lock either.The keys are ruff cut , working the key in and out of the lock several times,and pulling hard on the hasp it opened.The bent hasp is that way on purpose as it fits on one way to keep it tight to the tailgate.Tacoma needed the supplied washer with notch on the tailgate.The hasp gets installed on the bed side ,note had to pry it open a little.reinstall tailgate, squeeze the hasp to fit back in the lock knotches,put a screw driver behind the hasp bed side and lock it.Great fit on 2005 Tacoma, doesn't rub, very happy.Put the keys in a safe place at home,won't ever need them ,as i wont steal from myself,,,, sorry litte pun to easy,,,,,,,Tacoma 2 nd gen

Bought for my 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD, very easy to install. Appears durable and does not have a noticeable rattle, nor does it interfere with the tailgate closing. If anyone is determined, they can steal anything. However this is a great little deterrent and I’m much more comfortable leaving my tailgate on my truck. I like the key option as I can add it to my truck key ring and not have to fidget with anything else.

Ya me intentaron Robar de nuevo la tapa trasera de la camioneta Tacoma 2008 y Este candado bloqueador funciono muy bien hizo su trabajo el ladrón no pudo robar la puerta. no pude atraparlo pero alcance a escuchar el jaloneo de los intentos que hizo por querer robarme la tapa de la camioneta y no pudo la dejo ahí. lo recomiendo amplia mente.

I thought I had a defective unit or a mismatch key and lock. I was ready to return it. But I did see that the key codes matches? I kept trying to turn it and it only would turn in the counter clockwise direction about 1/16th of a turn and not turn at all in the clockwise direction. Not 90 degrees like most locks. It was more like 20 degrees or less and only CCW.it did not click or anything. I tried and tried. Finally I got some movement from the stainless band if I pulled very hard out as I turned the key counter clockwise 20 degrees. The metal band came out slowly if you kept pulling hard on it.Once it was out I could put it back in and push hard and get a click that indicated it was locked, kind of. But then I noticed that one side would still move out a very little bit when pulled.So basically the metal strap needs to be pushed in on both sides and you should hear 2 clicks to get it to lock properly.Once locked you can unlock it with a little 20 degree Counter ClockWise turn and a hard pull.So it does work. it would have been helpful if they indicated it is very hard to pull out and that the key only turns a very litte bit.So all good just check that you get both clicks when installing.Make sure you watch the Video here on Amazon. See how they turn the key, keep it turned and pull hard on the strap.I think the other 4 people that thought it was defective had the same issue I had with it. it just does not act or respond like a normal lock.
