I don’t like that I have to have the key installed to unlock the tailgate. I also had to use silicone to seal the handle gasket, at the top.

I saw the other negative reviews but decided to order anyway. Sure enough, the lever worked properly for the first few weeks, then suddenly stopped without warning. It will not unlock the tailgate, which is now frustratingly locked shut The key, which is quite cheaply made, turns in the lock, but it does not disengage the locking mechanism. The old adage, "you get what you pay for", has once again been proven true.And just to be clear, the tailgate lock was properly installed on the appropriate make, model, and year chevy Colorado.

It looks nice locking mechanism was a little sticky I put some extra lube on the moving parts but so far so good it’s nice to have a locking tailgate again and not having my tools stolen

Fit perfect and I can open my tailgate again. Nice having a key as well since I never got a key for the original when buying the truck. Glad I found this after the original handle broke.

It was very easy to I stall. Maybe 5 minutes. The lock works great. When the key hole was packed with snow it never froze, just swept off the snow and unlocked. It looks identical to the OEM non locking one, except for the keyhole. I put this on a 2008 Colorado for use with a tri-fold tonneau cover.

Fit very well but the key seems a little weak and sometimes is hard to lock or unlock, overall is a good product whit a very small flaws

I searched long and hard for a lock to use on this truck, (what a pain) the manufacturer is right it is easily installed and secures the gate nicely.

Purchased first PL1700 Oct 2018. It failed just under a year ago and note I threw the original lock away. Took a look at the lock and found the main swivel bolt was missing. Did not know there was a spring. I reached out to PopLock via email and asked for a screw and gave my mailing address. No reply.Purchased another PL1700 last Dec 5. Finally got to put it in Feb due to life. Worked for a while and then the key would not turn fully so did not lock. When opened I coud see that the spring near the same screw in question was binding and stopping the mechanism from fully turning. I could not see how it could be positioned to not impede. Emailed Poplock and immediately heard back. Over the last week or two I tried to explain the above to Poplock. I think in the end there were 3 different customer support people I had conversed with. Told them that Amazon was past accepting the return. My fault for a late install. Could they please send me another lock, or a bolt for the first one. Poplock said I needed to send it to them first at my expense. What if I had thrown away the first replacement lock. They were asking me to drive around with no lock. I did keep the first one hoping to get the screw. Toplock went radio silent at the point. I have not heard back after numerous times reaching out. I put in the old lock with the bolt and spring from second Pl1700. Spring caused same issue. I removed the spring and it seems to lock ok.My conclusion is that the design of the PL1700 is very much in question. Manufacturing issues are a close second. Customer service is prompt, but useless.Do not buy this product.
