This is a Great product, but on my 1995 GMC long bed, if you tighten the screw all the way, it will not lock. There needs to be a washer or 2 to go on it between the tailgate wall and product on the inside of the wall. When I loosened the screw a bit, it worked great! I used 3 washers and it worked great and I probably could have gotten away with using only 2, but 3 worked great. Worth the purchase, but like I said, it needs a washer or two on the inside between product and inner wall of the tailgate.....

Be careful removing the bezel from the tailgate. It has little plastic tabs that break easily! We broke 2. Gratefully, it was still useable. I purchased a new one and unfortunately, it was an 1/8” too tall in the hole. It had to be returned.We found that the bezel does interfere with the part that bolts to the tailgate. So, we just used a grinder and ground off about 1/8” along the edge of the bezel, not the whole way, only where the product actually touches it (not hard). We also took the suggestion of others and used a different bolt, just in case we would want to remove the product. We used lock-tight on the bolt. Hopefully, that will prevent it from vibrating loose. It locks perfectly! Very happy with this fix!

I like this lock. It was easy to install but needed a little modification work with a grinder. Nothing a DIY can't handle and it only took a minute to add a radius on the locking arm!

Awesome product that took me all of 5 minutes to install! Gives me some piece of mind on my older truck. Not sure how fail safe it is...I do not want to bust my handle trying it. But if someone yanks on it my alarm will go off, so I am 100% satisfied.

I needed a way to secure my tools and belongings in the truck while traveling from NC to ME. With the hard locking bed-cover on my truck, this provides a secure lock for the tailgate. With Prime shipping, it arrived in 2 days and took about 10 minutes to install. Highly recommended!

Was pretty difficult to get the stock plastic cover off of the tailgate handle. I followed the instructions, but the clips on the top broke. However, I put it back on with the pop&lock installed, and it stays put just fine. The lock worked fine for about 3 months, then it stopped working. I can't remove it because it's keeping the stock plastic cover for the tailgate handle in place (broken clips described above). But doesn't matter if the popalock is locked or unlocked -- you can just pull up on the tailgate handle and the tailgate opens. So I have changed my review from 4 stars to 1 star. Would give zero stars if possible: Worse than just a waste of money for the product because I broke those clips off installing the POS product.

The product wouldnt lock my 92 Chevy k1500 tailgate. The lock was about half a cm to short to grab my handle. If you pulled hard would just skip past it.

Not a bad for an added security method to bolster an already installed locking system I had from the 90's, but I didn't like the one way screw! So I didn't use it and have been looking for a security screw that can be removed if needed, but not with out a keyed socket or something and not easily tampered with!If they want the tail gate that bad they will get it... all this does is either turn someone away that might be expecting the 5 seconds it would take to remove the tail gate without it, but if they really want it they will get it, but in this case with some effort and time they may not have!Sad that we have to locked everything of what belongs to us and pay more money for this stuff to keep it, bastards!I will still recommend the item at 5 stars, but I whish the company would have supplied a better method of mounting this lock so 4 stars.Mine installed with no issues other than I decided to use a different bolt for now...BTW, I didn't have any issues what's so ever with the gate operation! Mine is always lubed (another reason for not using the one screw provided) and it got lubed again, but I also don't slam my gate, I have always lifted up on the handle while closing and then release slowly with a bit of a nudge on the gate to confirm it's latched once the handle is fully released. Just my way of doing this and much the way I handle the hood and doors, sometimes I might take another shot at closing the door pending if a window is open or not!
