Installed this alarm to pass a town final inspection. Alarm was easy to install, unit takes a 9 volt. They provide screws for Sensors but I used velco hanging strips cut to size so no drilling on sliding door or frame. Alarm has a bypass button so you can open door quickly to get out w/o setting it off. Should have a on/off button but I guess they dont want you to turn off. Alarm passed inspection with no problem.

We installed two of these at our vacation rental in Florida due to safety & liability concerns. They were among the highest rated pool door alarms, and I see now why. They are relatively easy to install, easy to operate, and they make a loud enough noise to instantly get your attention.

We didn't want to place a fence around our new pool so we needed to install a pool barrier on all of the doors and windows that had direct access to the backyard/pool. We purchased two of these alarms for our sliding and french doors and they passed county code. They installed easily and work great and our loud enough to hear the alarm through our entire home. We've had it installed for the last 6 months and have had no issues whatsoever.

Fairly easy to install and works very well. VERY loud alarm, can't miss it. The wire supplied to connect the door sensor to the alarm unit could and should be quite a bit longer to allow greater flexibility in where you mount both the sensor and the alarm unit for best aesthetics without compromising function. The supplied Pass Through outdoor wireless transmitter seems to be deliberately poorly designed to insure future sales. It is a sealed unit and they say the only remedy when the pre-installed battery finally dies in a year or so (depending on how often you use it), is to buy another one. So, when the first of pass through transmitters on my two alarms stopped working, I tried to buy another. But, you find that no one, including Pool Guard's own website offers this transmitter as a separate item so you are potentially lured into buying the whole kit when all you need is the pass through transmitter. I wasn't going to spend that kind of money every 1-2 years or less so, being somewhat handy, I cut the back cover off of the "sealed" pass through transmitter (took about 15 minutes with a fine hobby saw) and guess what I discovered. The unit is powered by a standard 3 volt CR2032 lithium watch battery. If Pool Guard simply made the back cover removable, it would be a simple replacement. But, why do that when you can sucker people in having to periodically come back and buy your product over and over? So, if you want a door alarm that works well, this is a good buy. Just don't get suckered when the battery in the pass through transmitter eventually wears out.

This product worked exactly as promised. It is instant-on and quite loud. However, there is no way to disengage the unit for more than maybe 30 seconds (other than disassembling the unit and removing the battery). In other words, once installed, you can never keep your door open and just let the breeze come through. You have to close the door every time you pass through it, otherwise the alarm will sound. Also, I feel the photo is very misleading. This is not a wireless unit. There is a wire — approximately 6" long — that connects from the alarm unit to the main sensor. This is quite unsightly and not at all what we were expecting. And the unit we received was obviously used. There were remnants of adhesive strips still stuck to many of the pieces, and there were gouges where someone tried to remove the adhesive with a screwdriver or something. Plus, there were some missing screws and anchors. It is quite obvious that quality control is not a high priority for this company.

An expensive item but worth it...if it would be durable. I set this up on my door going out to the pool. Set up pretty straight forward, no issues. But in less than a month of use the button that is outside (for the adults to push to get in the door without is buzzing) was already not working, meaning when you pushed it, it did not disengage the alarm to be able to pass through. It is very loud, great concept but just won't hold up to the kind of wear that one needs going in and out to the pool... I sent it back to Amazon

While having our pool area completely renovated, we were alerted by the city inspector that we would have to install an alarm system for all interior doors that lead to the pool area. The inspector told me that there were alarm systems that were battery operated and easy to install. After some research on the subject, I came across this alarm and ordered two of them. They were very easy to install and worked exactly as described. Within a few days the city inspector returned and examined my alarm installation. He said they were great and wrote off on them. Now that the work on the pool has been completed, I feel very secure with the new alarms. They work very well and can even double as a burglar alarm for the back of our house.

We focused on enhancing safety around our pool this year as our toddler became our mobile. This device was part of the changes we made. It was easy to install and it does sound loudly and consistently and achieves the goal of making sure a young child doesn't slip out undetected. The disadvantages are: 1) the outdoor device does not always turn it off - especially when the weather is cool, creating loud unwanted alarms about 50% of the time when someone enters. 2) it is impossible to leave our sliding door open. Originally I also purchased a screen door alarm so we could leave the glass door open when desired but we haven't been able to STOP the glass door alarm as it sounds if the door is left open 20 seconds. This is inconvenient for us, but adds to the safety, so I can't complain too much about that!
