What a relief not to have to get down on the ground to blow on the embers. This tool takes up next to no room. The kids liked using it to stoke the flames. Worked great.

I was made aware of pocket bellows after a long canoe trip in the wilderness of northern MN. They really do the trick to get fires going and is so much easier then crouching down to try and do it. Would recommend to anyone that regularly camps/backpacks and wants to be better at fire starting. They also are lightweight and come in a good storage tube; easy to pack away and have when you need them.

I have been using an old metal re-usable straw, flattened at the end, as a fire-starter for years of backpacking. It's fixed length created other obvious problems. However, this TELESCOPING tube eliminates ALL those inconveniences. Just the thing...compact, easy to use, lightweight, and very effective. Great concept, quality construction, and value. Should last the rest of my adventuring days."Don't leave home without it!"

These little pocket bellows are great. You can focus the air directly to where you want it without sticking your face right in the firepit and getting smoke and ash back at you. Really simple design, simply looks like a portion of a large old school retractable antenna, but very smart design and idea. Works great and is light weight. A little pricey for what it is, but it is probably worth the one time purchase and hopefully will last a long time.

Works as advertised. Sure, it's "just an antenna" like others have said, but where can you buy an antenna that works for this purpose perfectly? I've been struggling with the winter weather and my sort of dry-ish but snow covered wood in down to 0F weather and this has been able to create way hotter fires with way less fire starter/kindling without all the light headedness and hot face than before.Absolutely recommended!

I misunderstood what this product was - rather than a pump, it is a straw you blow through to more precisely direct air to the fire. It is useful, but when I think of bellows, I don't think of a collapsing straw, and the cost was high to get to the UK. It helps, but just isn't what I had expected.

This product works as advertised. It's not magic, but definitely lets you get air to where you want it and is wonderful for getting the fire going again after it has died down and you've added more wood. It's not that it's dramatically better than getting in there and blowing, just a hell of a lot more convenient. Not perfect, I would like to see it a little longer and with something like a flare at each end to help grip it to aid in extension, but it's a fun and functional tool.Naturally, the first thing I did after getting mine was to try to make a few of my own using a set of rabbit ears and a piece of copper water line from my old refrigerator. The three I made actually worked decently well, though I still strongly prefer the pocket bellows. The 2 from the rabbit ear antenna telescoped and held together well, but were thin throughout. That means you can't deliver as much air as quickly, though, it does mean you can sustain the air flow longer. The fire did not seam to get as hot due to this limitation, but it did still start the fire back up. The copper pipe was similar, though of course does not collapse at all. I'll probably keep the home-made ones by my fireplace at home and keep the pocket bellows in my camping fire kit.If this was half the cost, I would say it was absolutely worth trying. At the current price (~$13) it's nice to have, but not a necessity. I like it and will continue to use it. If you like the concept, but are cost conscious like me and have some old rabbit-ears laying around, make your own. It won't work as well, but may be enough for many people. See the included photo for the copper pipe, 2 rabbit-ear variants, and the pocket bellows.
