HOW IT WORKS
Parts
The Permanent Match is made up of 2 parts, the CONTAINER and the MATCH. The CONTAINER is filled with lighter fluid. The MATCH is made up of the FLINT STRIKER and WICK. On the side of the CONTAINER is a STEEL ROD. The MATCH ignites as the FLINT STRIKER strikes down the STEEL ROD.

FUEL IS SOLD SEPARATELY. Use only Ronson or Ronsonol lighter fluid (light petroleum distillate fuel) to fill the canister.
DANGER: Lighter fluid is extremely flammable. Use only as instructed.
EASY TO USE
FILL WITH LIGHTER FLUID
The best lighter fluid is Ronson or Ronsonol Lighter Fluid. The Permanent Matches ships without lighter fluid but a 4 oz bottle can easily be obtained online or at most department stores and gas stations. Slowly turn the lighter fluid upside down to fill the fuel container no more than 1/2 full. DO NOT strike the match if any lighter fluid has spilled out.
STRIKE TO LIGHT
To strike, position the flat end of the flint striker at a 45° angle at the top of the steel rod on the side of the container. Apply pressure to the match and scrape downwards along the steel rod. Practice striking to learn how to create a spark with each strike. DO NOT shake the container when striking. Keep the hand holding the container steady when striking to prevent fuel from spilling out. Keep away from children. Not a toy.
INCLUDES SPARE WICK
The flame lasts for about 5 seconds before it starts to burn the wick. At that point the match needs to be re-soaked in more fuel. The cotton wick will not burn as long as there is enough fuel on the wick. Re-soak the wick in more fuel if it starts to burn. If more wick is needed, use needle nose pliers or tweezers to pull more wick out of each side of the match. A spare wick is included to replace the wick if needed.
USE THE BOTTLE OPENER
Have a bottle opener with you at all times to open your favorite beverages.

With the world on the brink of who knows what, I find myself taking emergency preparedness very seriously. I'm in the process of building a survival kit. The main elements are food, water, clothing, fire and protection. The permanent match is the ultimate for having fire no matter what the circumstances. The product is so portable, easy to use, and works every time. Buy one.

The match doesn't work but if you just need a carabiner, there are cheaper ones out there.

Im pretty sure you will need to refuel them just before you want to use it. Also, make sure the striker is screwed in tightly before filling fluid...it will run right out all over your hand. Takes several strikes to actually ignite, but does stay lit until you put it out. Filler end has a plastic screw, which is kinda cheesy.

I think the SURVIVE Permanent Match looks good and will work well. What disappointed me was the packaging. The user video shown on Amazon showed the lighter in a nice box - perfect for a gift (see pictures). What arrived was the lighter in a plastic bag.

a key chain, bottle opener and fire starter match all in one with an elegant design, compact very sturdy yet light weight-- I am a proud owner and get much joy and satisfaction from this device. A word about the company: I accidentally broke the flint on the match and after writing the company and providing them a picture, they didn't hesitate to send me a replacement. They were very responsive and fair and even carried on a dialog with me with some tips on how best to use their product. I highly recommend the product and the company behind it.

I got this as a gift for my sister and her future husband. They like to camp and i though this would be a nice gift. I did want to test it just to make sure that the product worked because the reviews were hit and miss. I followed the directions and it worked great. bottle opener was an easy test but it was the match and flint i was most concerned with. It was a little challenging filling the reservoir but making sure it is not full prevents leaks just as stated. also it took a few tried with the match but it started lighting with easy with a little practice. it was fun to play with and I think my sister and future brother in law will enjoy it too.
