Preparation

1. Begin by un-attaching the 3 straps across the front of the night splint using the quick-snaps provided. Do not loosen the dorsi-flexion straps at this time.

Application

1. Place your foot into the night splint, making sure the heel fits snug against the heel of the splint.

2. Attach the bottom strap and adjust until snug. The straps should be fed under the dorsi-flexion straps.

3. Continue by attaching the remaining 2 straps as described above. Adjust straps for tightness as needed.

Dorsi-Flexion Adjustment

How to Effectively use Your PF Night Splint

It will be best to wear the night splint for only 1 hour the first night, then extending it gradually each night. Our splints are adjustable, so you can alter the tension. You may need to start with it looser & tighten over time. The goal is to wear it overnight or for around 4 to 5 hours at a time.

Provides gentle stretching that helps reduce inflammation, muscle contracture and other associated pain

Wedge Use & Adjustment

When you receive your plantar fasciitis night splint you will find a foam wedge attached to toe area of the night splint’s lightweight shell. The wedge can be adjusted or removed to increase or decrease the stretch of the calf and plantar fascia (dorsi-flexion).

Wedge

Where Does the Wedge Go?

Step 1 Lift up the fabric pad at the toe area of the boot.
Step 2 Slide the wedge underneath and affix to the Velcro on the wedge to the Velcro on the bottom of the boot.

Dorsi-Flexion Adjustment

Un-attach the dorsi-flexion straps and simultaneously pull to adjust the dorsi-flexion to the desired level. If pain is experienced with the night splint in the resting position, the wedge can be removed from under the toe for less dorsi-flexion.

Plantar Fasciitis Facts

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain and certain foot pain. The plantar fascia is the ligament that connects your heel bone to your toes and supports the arch of your foot. If you strain or injure your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated which leads to inflammation. This trauma and inflammation causes heel, foot, and arch pain when you stand or walk. This pain can is often the worst in the morning after a night’s sleep.

Plantar fasciitis is most common among active men and woman who are on their feet a lot, folks who walk a lot, runners, and athletes. Occupations and activities that increase plantar fasciitis include nurses, military - soldiers, police officers, retail workers, running, walking, hiking, football, soccer, ballet, basketball, gymnastics, and more.

The brace does its job once it's on but getting it on my right foot and adjusted requires more flexibility than I have. The buckles are on the right side of the brace so it buckles on the outside of the leg. Also, the hook and loop fastener is part of the pad on the strap. Unless the pad is snug right up to the buckle, it loosens as I wear it so I don't get the consistent angle I need to combat the plantar fasciitis.

I missed a step and tore ligaments and ruptured a tendon in my right ankle almost 3 years ago. I took 2 months off work and went through almost four months of rehab. I work at a museum and average 12,000-22,000 steps per day, so admittedly, I have not kept up with my stretching or exercises because I just come home and immediately get off my feet. I think this means that there has continued to be inflammation and weakness. At night, my foot relaxes but doesn't have the stability to hold itself upright therefore I end up with 'drop foot' which has lead to tendonitis/tendonosis. (in BOTH feet due to the whole compensating thing.) I realized that when I sleep in my boot, there is much less pain first thing in the morning, but the walking boot is so bulky, Noisy undoing the velcro in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and I only have the one.I just rec'd this and it's SOOOO sleek, comfortable and cushiony. I will say that I had no idea my ankle was so bad! My heal won't go into the back of the boot...at all! The other foot goes in (just barely) but it feels amazing because it can relax yet it's supported. The quick release straps are great (No VELCRO NOISE when taking it off !! :D ). The wedge (for those who need a deeper angle) is made of very supportive foam and has velcro on it so it stays in place - which is really smart. *I personally, am going to have to start working to get to the point where I use the wedge. At this point, I think I'm going to get a second one for the other foot.

I had previously purchased a different splint that had the bar that you would bend on the top of your foot. Besides the bar being uncomfortable, the Velcro didn’t hold and it didn’t keep my foot stable. This splint is great. I sleep with it every night, and most nights, all night with no problems. I wear a women size 7 1/2 shoe and I ordered the size small and it’s perfect. I don’t feel that it is bulky, uncomfortable or hot. It has a nice soft foot bed and straps are soft too. Also I do wear a thin sock at night just to keep the splint cleanerI 100% recommend this

This is a lightweight version of the Aircast. It is comfortable and lightweight. Because of its weight it will bend if you try to use it for walking. It keeps your foot at the proper angle while sleeping and is light enough so it doesn't keep you awake. The inner liner can be removed for washing. It is definitely worth the price. This is not designed to be a walking brace so don't think it will work for that. It works perfectly for what it was designed for.

I'm a runner and years ago I had some plantar fasciitis issues which took months to resolve, but the issues did resolve eventually. Back then, I had heard of wearing a night splint, but never used one. Lo and behold, 5 months ago, I developed another case of PF and it has been very frustrating because the pain has lingered and is holding me back from doing what I love...running. So, I've become a walker and some mornings my heel would hurt more than other mornings, but the pain was lingering for sure and I haven't been able to run. I decided to give the night splint a try because I had tried everything else. As you know, one of the top symptoms of PF is heel pain first thing in the morning. As we sleep, the foot is extended and the Plantar Fascia shortens and when we step on the floor in the morning the Plantar Fascia is stretched and pulls causing the damage and pain all over again. Well, the very first night after wearing the splint, I carefully put my foot on the floor and there was absolutely no pain at all in the morning. I was very surprised and very happy, to say the least. The splint keeps the foot in a flexed position during the night allowing the fascia to heal in a flexed position. So, now after wearing the splint for a week, I can honestly say that I'm seeing results. My heel no longer hurts in the morning and I even ran a little bit two days ago without pain. I'm very happy with the splint itself. I don't find it uncomfortable at all. I can get up during the night to use the bathroom and I can carefully walk with the splint on. Not a problem. I wear a size 6.5 shoe size and I bought the small size and it fits nicely. A night splint! Who knew?! It's working for me.
