My piano tuner retired so I had to get something for those one or two strings that went out of tune in my old 1867 Grand Piano. The last wrench I bought has was too large to fit. I searched and searched, looked for a new wrench, thinking that my piano had a special sized wrench. This is the standard size. I bought it for a second piano and found that this one fit because it was the right size for both, and the other one was the just poorly made.I love it. Tuned one of the F strings when I got it. Just tuned one of the F# strings two days ago. That seems to happen occasionally with a hundred- and fifty-year-old piano. Great to have when you don't want to hire someone for just a couple of strings.I would still recommend hiring someone to do the entire board. Does anyone know any good piano tuners?

So excited to get my old piano tuned for a fraction of what it costs for a professional.

This is a basic tuning tool, with a smooth ergonomic handle. Unfortunately it has a square head, not a star shaped head. A star head is what fits piano pins the best without stripping them down. I was able to basically tune my piano, but this tool is NOT sturdy enough for a thorough, professional tuning.

Overall, it works, but due to its short length, you might have difficulty using it effectively. You could consider a longer and sturdier alternative. However, you can still tune your piano with this one; it will just require a bit more effort and time. The included mutes are not sharp enough at the tip, so you’ll have trouble inserting them between the strings. I had to use a utility knife to sharpen the tips myself. In terms of price-performance, it’s a very subjective product. If this fits your budget, it will do the job, but if you can increase your budget a bit, I recommend a higher-quality and longer option.

You will need to buy a much longer wrench to have more leverage

It's an alright set, especially for the price: but the tuning wrench handle started to crack after a while. It isn't very durable.

Seems too small to get a good tuning. After spending ten minutes wildly missing the note on each string, I was exhausted and only got to tune a few. The handle is too short and as soon as you get it to move, the force needed to turn the peg causes over shoot, so you have to back up...back and forth over and over, and it's just too imprecise.I am tuning a full-size upright though, can't say for sure if smaller models are easier. Bottom line, didn't work for me, but it's a beautiful stick.
